Anthony Anderson

I fail to see the appeal of Anthony Anderson. In comedic roles, he’s not funny and because of his work in them, I don’t buy it in serious roles.

He keeps getting work though, like in K-Ville, the Bernie Mac show, and the Shield. He’s in Law and Order now and when I watch it, I think “Oh there’s that fat funny guy that’s not really funny.”

So am I missing something?

Is Anthony Anderson a talented performer with the ability to play both dramatic and comedic roles or is he a hack who’s getting jobs because he made a deal with the devil or has blackmail photos?

He is very talented. His role in The Shield was one of his best, IMHO.

I think he’s better off in serious roles than comedy since he has more range there.

I’m not one to make snap judgments, but I, for some reason, immediately sympathized with the woman in this issue, and have disliked Anderson since.

Joe

I thought he was the black Ted McGinley and his addition to the cast would finally be the end of the original Law & Order.

When he was announced for Law & Order, I wasn’t overjoyed, but I thought he could do OK in the role. And I think he has done OK.

Agree with the OP and in addition, they seem to often try to cast him as a lady’s man. I not a good judge, but I don’t see that either.

I liked him in The Shield.

He was fantastic in The Shield. And pretty damn good in Hustle and Flow.

He starts appearing in Law and Order for us in Australia from next week. I saw him in Transformers, and thought he was quite good, though it was a bit of a pointless role that didn’t need to be there. Otherwise, he’s not on my radar.
