I think his motivations are 25% revenge, 25% sincere, and about 50% just to be in the limelight and get his name in the media. He has his own aspirations no doubt.
Will he make a difference? Maybe if he can get Tillerson and John Kelly to be vocally against Trump. He won’t get Mattis.
After seeing Mooch interviewed you can understand both why he was hired and why he was fired. He doesn’t have any credibility, but if his example can coax others into the light, well and good. But him and Omerosa (too lazy to look up actual spelling), eh.
Yeah, wouldn’t surprise me if he had some sort of political aspirations that can be advanced by keeping himself in the public eye. He’s smart enough - and has a direct example - that fame of any sort is good for career advancement.
How has his career been advanced? He was a big deal at Goldman Sachs. He founded two investment firms. Now, according to wikipedia, “He is a recurring guest on the sports/comedy podcast Pardon My Take presented by Barstool Sports and was a “Fake HouseGuest” on Celebrity Big Brother”. I’m not sure why we should care that he’s organizing against Trump anymore than if my plumber was.
He was a lying huckster shitbag before, and he’s probably still a lying huckster shitbag. It would take a lot more than this to demonstrate an actual change of heart, at least IMO.
These ex Trumpsters are doing it so they don’t get ostracised from high society by being seen as lackeys to the very end. In reality they’ll still vote R over D in the booth but want to appear like they washed their hands off Trump in the event he loses.
Tough to say, but orders of magnitude more people know who he is now than before. I mean, I wouldn’t trade “big deal at Goldman Sachs” for “lots of people know me as the butt of some jokes”, but it’s not entirely downside?
Reading OP’s linked article I learned a new word
It immediately occurred to me that this was the word misspelled by Trump when he wrote
“Despite the negative press covfefe,”
Google shows that some others have noticed this connection, but SDMB has only one inconclusive mention:
This is true, but having Mooch try and fight Trump in the gutter is good because it means there’s someone high profile and right wing who can get dirty with Trump. Mooch is a street fighter, and it’s good to know that there’s at least one Republican who’s willing to get into a street fight against Trump.
There’s more than one. However full of shit he is, Joe Walsh has said that he decided to oppose Trump when Trump claimed to believe Putin yet question the US intelligence agencies.
Don’t give Joe the Plumber any ideas.

He seemed pretty level headed on Maher a couple of weeks ago. The lady sitting next to him was just begging for a fight, but Scaramucci never took the bait (I felt embarrassed for the lady).
This tells me he’s at least capable of being a decent human being. IDK, only time will tell.
Mooch can hurt Trump in ways democratic critics cannot. He’s not a socialist, and he really is a rich guy, unlike Trump. He’s also got that New York in-your-face attitude.
