sarcastic mocking voice Ohhhhh!!! Overland Park!!! Why dont you just brag about your richness some more richboy! Can I drive your Beemer? Just kidding… but everyone know that Johnson County drivers are the worst.
Hi Homer. I missed the thread in The Pit - I’ll have to go look and see what I missed (hmmm, the Pit. Thinking of Hayward’s Pit BBQ…) I’ve been out of town, and have had spotty access to the board. When I get back, well, we’ll see. Nothing against you personally Homer, but I do like to protect my anonymity some, after a couple of cyberstalking incidents that were pretty bad and kept me off the net for a year or so.
I’m in Johnson County, but don’t drive a beemer. Just to be different!
On a related note - I’ve been to every state in the Union, and most large cities of KC size. It’s difficult to find a better place to live overall than Johnson County. Make what jokes you want, but the place has a beautiful mix of old and (mostly) new, almost no crime to speak of, practically zero unemployment, economy that’s been thriving for more than 20 years straight, relatively clean - a great place to live. Although there is not much in the way of “entertainment” and “culture” in some respects, so I always tell people “it’s a great place to live, but I wouldn’t want to visit there.”
Wow. I always thought that I was alone. Then I saw Anthracite mention it, then someone mailed me about it, now B_Line’s from here, Rachelle’s around, sdimberts in the area… Talk about coming out of the woodwork. Sheesh!
I was thinking Tomfoolries or Stanford’s, but seeing how many people there are from Johnson county, perhaps Rio Bravo on Strang line or something would be preferable… ?
BTW, I don’t care who knows this, I live right down 69 (gotta ‘borrow’ that sign someday). I’m at the 247th street exit. Yes, yes, gawk at the freak.
Oh, and Anthracite? I TOTALLY agree on the Overland Park/Leawood (second richest city per sq mi in the US)/Olathe area. Wonderful place to live.
I want to visit Homers Haunted House and see a ghost!
BTW that was just a good natured ribbing about Johnson county. I agree, beautiful place. My best friend lives there. It would be my choice to live there in the kc area right after Blue Springs (closer to family).
But please, please, please, please go have some BBQ for me! I had a big craving last week that I just couldn’t shake. Had to send for some Arthur Bryant’s sauce and grilled a nice pork loin to dip it in.
Also, every Wal-Mart in the world now sells Gates. I just introduced my girlfriend to it. She was making fun of me, calling me a BBQ snob as I was preparing her a little sample dish, but she shut her mouth instantly when she tasted it. She had no choice but to agree - best BBQ sauce ever.
Connor
p.s. I laugh in the face of people who speak kindly of K.C. Masterpiece
Oh connor… the BBQ, your right my man. Nowere like KC, I miss it myself. I also live off the BBQ grill at home, got smoke in my blood!
Tim,
I’d like 2 tickets please! One for each day!
I would do this, however I live in Las Vegas for the time being. But now that my roomates/exGF’s mother and 4 nieces and nephews have moved in for the next 2 months, I have been considering moving back home (kc) not like theres much to stay here for anyway. If I get there before the 2nd I’ll let you know!
I would go but I’m moving and will be busy unpacking my crap that weekend. Sundays are bad for me too because I have to be up at 5:30 a.m. for work Monday plus I’ll more than likely have my kids with me!
Doesn’t matter to me what weekend we use. I was just picking a date so that we could start to get this thing hammered down. Also doesn’t matter where it is. If someone’s got a better idea, fine by me.
