Anthrax Neighbor has Killed Himself

The New York Times has the story. A guy from Fort Detrick who was about to be indicted for the anthrax attacks has killed himself.

He lived about a kilometer from my Mom’s house. His kids (teenaged twins) went to school with my nephews. My brother talked to him the other day at work.

Now a half-dozen satellite vans are on Military Road taking moving pictures of an unmoving front door. Not really being nasty, just doing a bit of a nasty job. Saw some neighbor being interviewed.

Of course if he did it. he deserved to be punished. Maybe he even deserved the DP. Now he seems to have cut out the middle man so to speak. Assuming he did it, he killed five people for no obvious reason. He also injured another dozen and caused millions in other losses. Further, he let his friend, Dr. Hatfill (who lived 100 M from here.) take the rap.

The FBI sure screwed up this case, which I suppose now comes to this unhappy, unsatisfying end.

If all this is true, you moved from Saudi Arabia to Maryland and moved next door to a terrorist.

Hell of a thing to think about, though not too surprising if you think about it too long.
