The state and federal governments are saying that this fatal case of Anthrax in Florida is not the result of a terrorist attack…because after all they would have tried to kill thousands of people, not just one individual. Does anyone think they are considering the possibility that this might have been a test of a method of exposing people to anthrax or a test of how long it would take for the exposed individual to die? After all, this is the first case of this particular type of Anthrax in, I think they said, 40 years. Maybe they needed a real-life case to see exactly how and what would happen. It’s a step up from the dogs they killed in Afghanistan in their camps.
From cnn.com’s article:
And I’m pretty sure that there’s been scattered cases in the years between. It’s rare, but not unheard of.
But perhaps it is the opening shot in what history will call the Great Plague of '01. If I choose to be armed with this worry, what can I do about the coming Plague?
::checking. big ol’ tape reels whir. lights blink. small slot spits out a length of tickertape printout::
::doublechecking the result::
Hmm. The tickertape here says, nothing. Silly thing to be armed with, then.
Still, “silly” is one of the main qualities of “being human,” so I’m hardly casting stones. I think it’s possible to channel it to more worthwhile areas, though.
Way I see it, if someone really wants to kill me, well, pretty much any idiot can accomplish that. Killing people is something idiots have done very well since Og first picked up a heavy rock and shrieked in delight at the meaty thud it made when connected with arch-rival Ag’s then-frighteningly-oversized head. Ag had invented fire, which the People must not do–the Powers were angry with Ag! Powers say, Og kill Ag! Powers pleased with Og now! Og chief!
The above paragraph might be an example of what I’m talking about.
All that said, I don’t think biological attack would be preferred–it lacks a certain, well, flashiness. Big explosions, mushroom clouds of soot billowing through the Great Satan’s avenues–that’s flashy. It makes for short media clips that will be shown around the world. Og powerful! Og can do this! Boom! See what Og do!?! FEAR OG!
A hospital ward full of dying patients? Not nearly as flashy. That takes more effort to rouse Og’s troops with.
It’d be funny if I weren’t so convinced it’s true.
This case was windborn, which is the method you would have to use in a biological attack. Most previous cases have been via contact with livestock. I can’t find what caused the last case in Florida, but it was probably via contact.
Maybe psychotics don’t require flash; maybe they just need God’s approval and reward. According to one expert in Islam, this reward (for teenage boys) is immediate access to 40 virgins upon death. It is so sick and stupid it tells you something about the culture these “people” live in. It looks like Atta and his friends decided to sample a little of the afterlife pleasures before death, like booze and lap-dancing. God will be mad!!
I don’t know of anything that can be done to prevent a determined group from killing us all with Anthrax or any other biological agent. But we have to try, don’t we.
It just seems too much of a coincidence that this particular type of Anthrax has reared it’s ugly head now.
There are so many news items covering bio/chem terrorism now. “Nightline” seems to run the same program over and over. Or maybe it starts looking the same after a while.
Suziek, I heard about the lap dancing, etc. Such hypocrites.
To give my opinion, no, I don’t think the Florida anthrax death was a diabolical gov’t test. Seems they already have a lot of info. And I also recall bio/chem warfare documentaries long before the 11 Sept. murders.
Sorry Violet, I guess I wasn’t clear. I was thinking that maybe the terrorist-types were the ones testing out their strategy before launching an attack. From what I have read there were lots of dead animals around their camps in Afghanistan and it was assumed they were testing various agents. They need human guinea pigs now; plus, they would have to decide how to expose people to it in a way that the disease is contracted and the means won’t be obvious until the damage is done.

Apparently there are other traces of anthrax found in the building- which by the way, is an office for the National Enquirer and other tabloids.
Are these coincidences?
-
First case of anthrax poisoning in 25 years, and of COURSE just days after the Sept 11 attack.
-
The anthrax was found in southern Florida- where many of the 9/11 terrorists were hanging out and learning to fly.
-
The man that dies was a photographer for the Sun.
My theories are:
-
Someone at one of the Tabloids was on to something in the neighborhood. Possibly stole a culture of anthrax, maybe didn’t know what it was, and it somehow got loose.
-
The terrorists warned the Enquirer or anothe tabloid to back off; and this is their warning or retaliation for not heeding the warning.
I once worked for AMI
I’ve also had the Anthrax vaccination (10 years ago)
I used to listen to a lot of Megadeth
Latest rumors: The CDC has narrowed down the Anthrax strain to a synthetically produced one, not a natural one found in the ground or dead animals, per a caller on Art Bell’s show. Also, apparently a govt. crop-duster type plane disappeared in the last few days flying from the Bahamas.
This whole thing is like a nightmare that I wish I could wake up from.
This is from the Miami Herald:

A former intern appears to be suspect. Looks like the case is being viewed as a murder investigation (not surprised!) according to late news.
From a link at Matt Drudge’s site:
Elsewhere, a state official in Virginia confirmed that health officials there were monitoring a possible case of anthrax at a northern Virginia hospital.
Prince William Hospital in Manassas, Va., contacted the state health department with a possible anthrax diagnosis, ``one of several possible diagnoses’’ for the victim, whose name was not released, said M. Boyd Marcus, Gov. Jim Gilmore’s chief of staff. He said a germ culture from the victim was transported to a state laboratory in Richmond on Monday evening and would take at least 24 hours to analyze.
The state government was told that the Virginia victim had either been an employee of or a contractor for The Sun, Marcus said. He had no details, and he said it wasn’t known whether the victim had been in Florida of late or had had direct contact with Blanco or Stevens.
The preliminary tests on the man from VA have come back negative, so that’s good news.
The NY Post is now reporting that a THIRD florida case of anthrax is confirmed, again a sun employee, and contains a bit more about the mysterious e-mail left by the intern.
http://www.nypost.com/news/nationalnews/31567.htm
"Three employees of American Media, which publishes The National Enquirer and other supermarket tabloids out of Boca Raton, Fla., told The Post that the FBI wants to question a summer intern who left the company recently after sending out an e-mail to employees saying thank you and “I left you all a little present.” "
Yes, this is the NY Post, but still…
This whole thing strikes me as very odd… if they were going to attack with anthrax, why just a small office? If it is deliberate, it sounds like someone involved, but doing a little side project.
Latest update from NY Post: the guy who died . . .lived a mile from where hijacker Mohammed Atta took flying lessons.
The man who left that email as quoted in zuma’s post was from the Sudan.
Reports also of a letter containing a strange, powdery substance in the shape of the Star of David was also found at the office.
Wow, if all this is true . . these people are even sicker than I thought!
