I know a few medical doctors and medical researchers personally and you probably do too. My experience is that most (or at least a substantial body of them) tend to be smart, confident, and have levels of intellectual integrity and pride so high as to be almost problematic.
Forget the media and the pharmaceutical industry. Think about all the individuals involved. The idea that any substantial area of medicine (such as vaccines) could be significantly fraudulent without being debunked and/or whistleblowers coming forward is not only grossly insulting to those doctors and researchers, it is completely implausible.
It’s not quite at the level of implausibility that proposes that all those involved in the Apollo program (plus the Russians watching) conspired to pretend people went to the Moon, but it’s not far off.
Considering everyone around the world involved in researching and overseeing vaccine development, production and marketing, the number of people must run into the hundreds of thousands if not millions. Add up all of their family members, relatives and friends and we’re easily talking about tens of millions of people.
And yet antivaxers want us to believe that all those scientists, pharma production workers and executives are in on a giant plot to injure and kill people with dangerous and ineffective vaccines, willingly sacrificing themselves and their loved ones to the Konspiracy (after all, they get vasccinated too) because the money is just too darn good.
It’s absolutely bonkers, but that’s how antivaxers roll.
And yet, we had an opioid crisis that had at least some participation from doctors.
The counter to that, of course, is that you can only get away with something like that for so long. Today we have lawsuits and prosecutions, etc. Vaccines have been around for more than two centuries; to think that a conspiracy could be kept for so long is completely irrational.
I’m not saying that no doctors would participate in a conspiracy, I’m saying some would not – easily sufficient for the whistle to get blown.
Massive numbers of doctors and other medical professionals were at the frontline in raising the alarm about the opioid crisis. The opioid crisis is actually just an illustration of my point.
In a past life, I worked in the pharmaceutical industry. I saw the raw data, I did not parse it or market it.
The money was not “too damn good” by a loooong shot, and if I came across news/claims that was counter to my own experience testing the stuff, damn right I’d object. It’s been a couple of decades now, but holy hell they did not pay me enough to cover up fuck all. I’m sure I’m not the only one.
I’m cyncial of the marketing and capitalism etc etc but I also know that medicine is a fucking crapshoot and finding a drug that does “a useful thing more useful that what it harms” is a notable event.
I’ve also seen or or known people who have dealt with horrible illnesses and whatever helps, helps.
Give me the vaccines for all the things. All. Of. Them.
FWIW, I’m not in the USA which seems to have an added layer of “fuck you” to all of this.
I’ve always assumed it was the mind control drugs in the coffee at the office. Which is the real reason ‘return to work’ is being pushed so hard by the suits.
The improvents in cardiology gave me a father for an extra thirty two years. If making an idol and lighting candles in front of it would work I’d do it. His own father died at fifty three, because of heart attack, and that was the same age as my dad. But thanks to angioplasty, open heart surgery, and clot busting drugs, he lived and was healthy. He would have lived even longer I’m sure but an inattentive driver killed him on his motorcycle.
I have no sympathy for brain dead idiots and the troubles they have due to their faulty logic. They are deliberately ignoring things that save lives, and I think “tough shit” if they suffer for it.
Speaking of mind control, did you ever read Stephen King’s short story “The Ten o’Clock People”? Interesting reason for pushing the stop smoking campaign.
I can’t help but picture RFK, Jr. banging on the top of an Iron Lung shouting, “What can I do to put you in this baby today?”
“Just think. One little shot and we probably wouldn’t be here today.” – My wife’s idiot cousin at the funeral of her other idiot cousin who wouldn’t get the COVID vaccination.
Unfortunately I don’t think the anti-vaxxers will change their mind until children start dying or suffering permanent damage from preventable diseases. My mother, a retired nurse, tried to talk me out of getting the MMR vaccination when I went back to college in the early 2000s. My sister was tempted to put my niece on an alternative vaccination schedule, but after a little while just went along with what the doctor scheduled. As she told me, “I got so many damned shots in the Navy, I’m pretty sure its safe.”
I disagree. An anti-vaxxer won’t change their mind until THEIR child dies from a preventable disease. Gonna take a long, long time to get all (or even most) to change their mind. Meanwhile, more “people” are going “Hey! they didn’t get vaxxed and didn’t die. Why should I?”
I think it’s going to take a high rate of mortality and/or permanent injuries to change their minds. There will always be anti-vaxxers, they even existed in the 18th century when smallpox inoculations were popularized, but they can be whittled down to a manageable level I think. Hopefully not whittled down via death. Like others have pointed out, it’s not just the people who are die hard anti-vaxxers, it’s the population who are concerned and confused because anti-vaxxers have muddied the waters for them.
This is not a comfortable topic. It’s one of those subjects I can’t be happy if I’m right because it means a lot of sick children have died or suffered permanent harm.
Speaking of ignorance, here’s noted anti-vax idiot Aaron Rodgers speaking on Pat McAfee’s show this week to complain about what someone said about him because he totally doesn’t care what anyone says about him.
Say whatever the fuck you want about me, I don’t care, but just before you do it, whether you state your name, your accolades, pronouns, whatever it is, just state your vax status so that anything you say afterwards gets put in the right light. Just get it out there.
Then when you say things about me, people can at least be like, ‘oh, you are captured by the multimillion-dollar propaganda Skyhawk and you’re still upset about it…’ Just so everybody knows where you’re coming from, everybody knows ‘okay, cool, you’re twice vaxxed with Moderna with three booster shots’ and then say what you want to say, whatever…
…Help everybody out who’s wondering ‘where is this coming from?’ Including myself… Do a little bit of digging and then you know where it’s all coming from. You’re captured, you’re highly vaccinated and then say whatever the hell you want to say about me 'cause I couldn’t give two shits about it. All I care is that you put that little disclaimer out there…Instead of your accolades you need to have out there so desperately, just put your vax status as well, because you cared so much about it during the COVID years.
Are you kidding? He’s a nut who tosses out conspiracy theories. Just do a podcast and/or YouTube/TikTok channel and he’ll make a fortune and probably be even more famous.
