We AREN’T their friends. And even if your characterization of them is right, that does NOT justify nuclear genocide. Not to mention, it’s rather ridiculous to call a bunch of people savages, and then call for genocide. What’s more savage than genocide?
Frontline last night was interesting. Reporter spent some time with a group of Taliban. He witnessed one of their operations; to blow up military trucks on the main north/south roads in the northern part of the country. It failed. Fog, communication and bomb problems. Another mission did not fail. The bails that I thought were poppy were actually cotton and they were simply hiding behind them. Poppy was mentioned and some Taliban did not like the idea of selling it to fund their war effort.
Another part of the same report was the school situation in Pakistan. In a word terrible.
All in all, I learned a few things about the situation on Afghanistan. I think it will be difficult for us to “win” there.
If interested, tune in to Frontline and catch this report. It’s also here: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/
War is terrible but if we are going to engage in war then it ought to be all or nothing.
If we aren’t willing to go that far, then we shouldn’t go to war.
