Can anybody help? I have ants in my kithcen
and i can’t really tell where they are comming from, I think from under my sink.
Does anyone know of any good ideas on how to
get rid of them.
Send your uncles on a long trip. They’ll probably go together
Cecil said it. I believe it. That settles it.
The official answer outside is diazinon, from any harware or garden store.
I personally don’t use poisons because of my pets tracking in outside dirt, but I found something that works, it’s cheap, and you probably have some. Laundry powder. Sprinkle liberally around the base of the house, especially where the pipes enter. This has to be redone every 3-4 months if you get much rain at all.
Inside, buy the cheap, lightweight spackling paste, the kind that looks and spread like a whipped cream sugar frosting, and cleans up with water. Slather it around all places a pipe enters the wall, from both sides. Go right over the useless metal flanges, they’re just for show.
Around baseboards in the kitchen, use your finger to spread a thin line of dish soap. Don’t rinse, let it dry there. They can’t cross a soap line without getting it on their skin. They have no lungs, so they have to breath through their skin. Take a whiff of laundry powder, and you’ll know why it works, because you can’t sneeze it out fast enough.
Oh, and it helps to be lucky, so here’s wishing you good luck.

Leave cucumber peels where you see ants. It worked wonderfully for me when I lived in New Hampshire. But when I tried it against Maine ants last summer, it didn’t work. The ants we have here are a lot smaller, so they’re probably a different species.

Why get rid of them? They’re full of protein.
…and even better dipped in chocolate.
This will take care of the whole colony.
"Put about 1/2 cup sugar in a large glass. Add about a table spoon or two of Borax; mix and stir with a spoon thoroughly. Add water to make a solution. Soak cotton balls (or I have used tissue or paper towel with some success) in solution for a few hours (or longer). Now you can remove and dry out the cotton balls (or tissue). Or just throw it outside on a really hot sunny day. It will dry in an hour. Place the soaked cotton/tissue near where you have a massive colony of ants. The workers will swarm the tissue/cotton and take borax laced sugar particles back to the lair. They will feed it to the queen and all the ants (and the ant reproduction center) die of indigestion.
You are exactly right–too much Borax and the ants get savvy to the deal and don’t take the particles back and eat it. But I have found my ants (in Central Valley of CA) are willing to go for the mix listed above and will go for an even stronger one! This is an absolutely excellent, cheap, effective and environmentaly friendly way to dispose of ants. I once had a tree infested with ants. Millions of them. Put soaked Borax/sugar cotton out and presto! A week later the ants were decimated. I was convinced. The Borax even adds trace elements of Boron to your soil!! (See Eliot Coleman 4 Season Harvest to support that–Borax=Boron a trace element needed for healthy soil, but it should only be added in trace amounts/sprinkles).
Good Luck…!!!"
This is from someone at the Organic Gardening Magazine BB. It’s important to NOT use too much borax or the ants won’t go for it. Hope this helps!

Wrong thinking is punished, right thinking is just as swiftly rewarded. You’ll find it an effective combination.

Squirt gun filled with Acid. Some people think this is a bit of overkill and can ruin your floors but I think watching the little buggers die a horrible death is worth the price of admission.
Starve 'em out,
Really. Once you’ve gotten rid of them, it really helps to keep any food cleaned up. Even little crumbs and such. You can usually get rid of ants by cleaning, but it takes time, and most of don’t have that kind of patience.

One them might have to cross a bridge someday.
Im not going to change my mind on this. Ants are hungry. Put some sugar OUTSIDE for them.
We had an ant problem and someone told us to put red pepper flakes on every entrance to the house (doorways, window sills…). We tried it and we haven’t seen an ant since. You don’t need a lot of it…just buy a jar and sprinkle some.

Wash the counters & floors down with a strong soap solution. Leave a slight soapy residue on the surfaces. Problem solved. Soap solutions, as has been stated time & again on this board CAN & DO KILL INSECTS. Also, keep the joint clear of open food. Consider keeping cereal in Ziplock bags, et al. Soap & too little food will kill the beggars off.
