Huh. I always assumed that Talk Talk took their name from the 1967 Music Machine hit of the same name, but that does not seem to be the case.
There’s a million stars
It’ll blow you away
And it’s all so concrete blonde
- Concrete Blonde, singing about life in Hollywood on It’ll Chew You Up and Spit You Out, from their self-titled debut album
I always assumed that, too. I don’t think the fact that they wrote their own song with the same title rules it out.
The Go-Go’s song “Daisy Chain” doesn’t actually use the name “Go-Go’s,” but it does relate the entire history of the band and calls out each of the five members by name (or nickname). A pretty ambitious little song if you think about it.
Also “Mother People”
And while I’m not sure this counts, “Jigsaw Puzzle” by the Rolling Stones contains this verse:
“Oh the singer, he looks angry
At being thrown to the lions
And the bass player, he looks nervous
About the girls outside
And the drummer, he’s so shattered
Trying to keep on time
And the guitar players look damaged
They’ve been outcasts all thier lives”
The Aquabats- Theme Song
*Come fight along
We’re the Aquabats
We’re super guys
We’re the Aquabats
*
And so on, and so forth.
