Any Bob Rivers fans?

Great parodies. Just one question.

How does he sound so much like the artists he parodies?

I enjoyed his “Love in the Oval Office”, and others that I think he’s done, but I can’t actually think of at the moment.

I just figured he was a singing impressionist; I think it’s easier to sing and sound like someone than it is to talk and sound like someone.

Rivers does not do all the impressions himself, in fact, he does very few. I have 2 of his CD’s and he is listed as performing on only 2 songs of the 22. Spike O’Neill, his radio sidekick for years does the singing on many of the songs. And he has hired many Seattle area rock band members, both famous and not so famous, to work on his material. I have been listening to Bob on the radio here in the Seattle area for years, first on KISW and now on KZOK. Many of his twisted tunes are considered classics in this area. One of my favorite CD’s is just called Music From Bob’s Garage, that is what he calls his recording studio. Visitors to North Bend can visit it, if they can find it. I picked up the CD as a radio promotion and it has songs from Foghat, Blue Oyster Cult, Nirvana, and others and it was all recorded in Bob’s Garage. More info about Rivers and his stuff can be found here.

And from the site I linked above, you can download many of the songs recorded at Bob’s Garage, including many from the CD I mentioned.

I love Bob Rivers and the rest of the Twisted Radio gang. I too, have been listening to them from the beginning. It’s just not a weekday morning without listening to them.

As Racer stated, it’s actually Spike O’Neal who does a lot of the singing and they’ve hired many other folks to sing their twisted tunes.
