I kind of have a delima. You see, when I’m older, I aspire to be a well-known fantasy writer. I had a 34 page novel on my computer at school in grade8, but it was delete in a power outage. Now, I have an 18 page one on the go. Its kindoff a romancey-save the kingdom-warrior princess thing. personally, I like it… but I kindof have to, I’m the author.
So, I was wondering if anyone interested(or bored) could read it, and criticize it. I like the storyline and stuff, but I have a sneaking suspicion that its crap.
Well, I tell you. I was working on a play when I was in high school (this was back when I thought length was some indication of a person’s ability to write well) that was 23 pages. And it was probably pure crap, so I at least know it when I see it.
m8b - I would be honored to help. I am by no means a professional book critic, but I read LOTS of books of all kinds and I like to think I am a fair judge of what is readable and what is not. Let me know if I can help. Oh, and by the way, maybe your story is only 18 pages right now, but I am sure you can develop the storyline as you keep returning to it and see things that can be added.
Perhaps we can start a writers circle here. I am currently on chapter 10 of the novel I am writing and am around 25K words. Listen to Chuck and check out his website and new writer’s FAQ. He rocks!
