Any Christian Dopers . . . any at all?

You don’t have to be an “In your face Christian” Scotti.

You’re an “In His face Christian.”

Don’t settle, kid. You’re doing fine.

Scotti, I couldn’t agree more! When Fred Rogers died a few weeks ago, and I heard he was an ordained minister, I said something very much like this to my husband. Something to the effect that you don’t have to “talk the talk” so loudly, as long as you “walk the walk”. Fred Rogers did not, so far as I can tell, in his capacity as a “TV personality” ever talk the talk. But he also never failed to walk the walk. A Scripture from the Baha’i Faith that I particularly like says “Let deeds, not words, be your adorning”. You always do this!

another doper LDS Mormon checking in. Born and baptized RC (the faith of my mother), later joined Episcopal church (the faith of my father), explored the Lutheran church (dating one at the time), finally settled on LDS church. I am what is called a “liahona” mormon - to use the Jewish phraseology I would be “reform”…as opposed to the “Iron Rod” mormons, which run closer to “conservative to orthodox”.

I didn’t know we had so many lutherans on the board…remember Woody and Kelly on Cheers? Woody is LCMS and Kelly is ELCA - therefore she worships Satan!

Woody - “Ask her why she thinks the Book of Concord is not in line with the Scriptures !”
Kelly - “Because it’s not.”
Woody - “HERETIC !!!”

ELCA! Woo hoo!

Actually, both of my parents are Lutheran pastors, one is a parish pastor, the other works in the synod offices as a sort of vice-bishop. Many have said that, if she were a man, she’d have made bishop easially.

Also, my sister is a theology major at an ELCA school. I can’t get away from all these Lutherans!

Oh, and true Lutherans sit in the back. We’ll bring all-too-many entrees to potlucks. But there’ll always be coffee!

Yet another Catholic checking in

I can do my share of debating and defending the Faith when the need arises, but I got tired of the Great Debates section a long time ago, so I don’t go there anymore. And everything there tends to devolve into a shouting match, which I can’t stand.

Christians, Christians everywhere. Thanks fr responding everybody!!

Yeah I tried lurking over in Great Debates (I just can’t shorten that to it’s initials, it bothers me) but it was just too heavy for me even though I consider myself to be strong in my faith. I just need some mundane pointless stuff to muse on to lighten the load so I stick to MPSIMS. Quite a lot of sacreligious atheists tho. Hmmm

I’m one too. Like you, I once thought I was in the minority. I have found this feeling in most online communities that I’ve been a part of. Obviously not everybody is of the same faith, but there are more than you imagined, I’m sure.

Similarly, I’m sure there are more of a lot of other demographic categorizations that we don’t think of.

oh I’m one too!

Alright, yet another checking in.

Evangelical, heretical, arrogant, and sometimes smarmy, but still a Christian, and still here.

Sweetie, I read through pages and pages here looking for your name, and if you hadn’t posted, I’d have posted for you. You are one of the truest Christians I know.
Oh, yeah, and I was raised Southern Baptist, but my believes have…um…evolved…

Recently-converted Episcopalian here! I fully admit to not being the best Christian that I can be…I swear, I have pre-marital sex (with the man that I’m going to marry, but still), and I don’t go to church as much as I should. But I do put my trust fully in God and love Him with all of my heart. The other things can be fixed. That can’t.

And I greatly admire many of the Christians on this board. I’m a liberal Christian (which is why I belong to an Episcopal church - they ordain women and gays), and so I typically get the evil eye from more moderate and conservative Christians, but I find many of the Christians around here to be very open and nice.

Ava

Freelance Christian here – with Cumberland Presbyterian, Episcopal and Unity memberships at one time or another.

That’s me in a nutshell. I’m a non-denominational Pentecostal Christian (born and raised African Methodist Episcopalian, though) and while my faith is a personal guidepost, I just don’t have the energy to get into religious debates and deep theological discussions online. This is my “down time” activity. I’d like to think that Christ’s mercy allows for downtime.

Yet another Christian - churchless…
