Any Christian Dopers . . . any at all?

<----Roman Catholic here.

Another RC dude.

Not at all, I was conceived the old fashioned way, in a summer home in Sheboygan Wisconsin

Wow–there’s more Catholics around here than I thought! I’m one too, FTR. I’m more of a “it’s how I was raised, it’s part of who I am” kind of a Catholic than a “I must talk about it incessantly and constantly pester others with my beliefs” type. I’d reckon a LOT of our christian/catholic dopers are of a similar breed. The extremists get a lot of guff, but other than that it’s pretty much live and let live.

Christian…Protestant.

But I tend to stay out of Great Debates except to lurk because I’m not as eloquent as many of our other Christian dopers, and I’m not very good at debating.

It is disturbing to see so much relirion bashing here and lumping all Christians under the “fundy” banner, but then I just remember that those bashers are all going to hell and I feel better.

Just Kidding!!!

Go Pack!!

:::raises hand and jumps up and down to be seen behind the “olbies” ::: ME!!! ME!!!

Seriously, I am an Evangelical Christian, have been for a few years now…there’s an interesting story that goes with it although not one i’d share in a public forum such as this.

For the record I’m also a Goth which lends me to some…interesting viewpoints sometimes.

I thought you were going to say something about behind the bleachers or the back seat of a buick. Me ~ I haven’t asked asked about my conception. I don;t want to know that it was less than holy.

I’m just curious about your username. Don’t tell me you keep a baby in a jar on your desk.

Ave Maria, gratia plena, dominus tecum. Benedicta tu a mulieribus…

Oh- yeah, I’m pretty Catholic, too.

Yikes. Nothing that horrific. I am a huge Bears fan, and so naturally I’m also a Green Bay Packers HATER. HATER YOU HEAR ME?

Anyway, I had a dream where I had sex with Brett Favre and gave birth to his child, so I crammed it in a jar out of embarrassment and kept it in my dresser drawer, where it lived very happily. It was my jarbaby. And J stands for Jessica, my name.

Hee hee. You funny. For some reason, from your name I guess, I thought you were a guy. Who knows why?

Sancta Maria, mater dei. Ora pro nobis pecatoribus.

No, I’m not Catholic, I’m Lutheran. I just happen to know the Ave Maria.

Yay for Christian Dopers! And yay for non-Christian Dopers too!

Practicing Calvinist here. And while I don’t hide my faith at the SDMB, I just don’t shove it down people’s throats. If they ask, or if a response lends itself to discussing my religious beliefs, I’ll bring it up.

Just because I’m an editor IRL, doesn’t mean every post involves correcting grammar or spelling.
Just because I’m pro-labor, doesn’t mean every post involves hatin’ on “the man.”
Just because I’m a TV junkie doesn’t mean it’s all I talk about.
And just because I’m Christian doesn’t mean every post I make will reflect that. I think the same goes for most of the Christians here.

Welcome to the boards. And if you’re looking for a Christian-themed board, check out The Pizza Parlor.

Happy

Sorry what did
you say?.
I’m going to hell.

I was raised Methodist but I’m not particularly religious.

I’d mention Joe Cool and Jersey Diamond as strong evangelical Christians who are fairly active. They’ve gotten a bit of bad press because of staunchly standing for what they believe, but they’re pretty terrific people when you can get past the argumentation.

I strongly encourage getting into GD religion threads, even if only as a lurker at first – trying to make my belief structure (and in particular what it does not imply) clear to people who don’t share many of my basic assumptions, has been an exercise that has honed my faith, and I don’t think there’s been a GD thread where I haven’t learned something about God and about people. And I guarantee you’ll get caught up in the discussion and debate – it’s addictive!

Yeah, for that yellow on white. Ow, my eyes!

I see gold on grey isn’t much of an imrovement, sorry.

Coldfire, That was TOO funny!

and Copper_Moon?

“I may be going to Hell in a bucket, but at least I’m enjoying the ride.” Sometimes the inner Deadhead has to come out!!

Bosda is so on target here. It’s a loving community of grace, regardless of theological belief.

Here he’s a bit off target. Personally, I look to Triskadecamus (who hasn’t been mentioned yet, IIRC) as the man who speaks the pure love of God, and to Tom~ (AKA tomndebb, although -debb never posts) as the man who has all the scholarly references (and also breathes the air of Christian decency)!
