Any Current Authors Similar To Ira Levin?

I’m sure you know what I mean. Tightly-plotted, high-concept intelligent popular fiction, usually with some killer twists and turns? Stuff like Rosemary’s Baby, The Stepford Wives, The Boys from Brazil and (my personal favorite) A Kiss Before Dying?

Stephen King once said Levin’s plots were put together like Swiss watches, and it’s hard to disagree.

Is there anyone out there writing stuff like that these days?

Thanks.

He’s not a current author (he died in 2002), but I recommend Henry Slesar. His short stories are particularly good.

And I notice you don’t mention “This Perfect Day” among you Levin selections. If you haven’t read that one, pick it up. If you have and didn’t like it, sorry for the (slight) derailment.

Some of Whitley Strieber’s books might please you (The Hunger, Wolfen, etc.).
