My daughter needs a reciepe for an authentic German dessert. I have looked, and so far have come up with null. Anyone know a receipe for a German dessert?
I’ve got some recipes for various German cakes, but I need to hunt around and find them. One day I will get my recipes organized!
Anyway, I will look tonight, and e-mail you a list of what I’ve got, so you can choose.
Hey, thanks Tatertot. I will let you know how they turn out.
This is an authentic recipe rom the Pennsylvania Dutch who are of course actually German, so if you want to try:
Chocolate Saurkraut Cake
Cream 1/2 c. butter and 1 1/2 c. sugar together. Beat in 3 eggs one at a time and slowly. Add 1 tsp vanilla and set aside. Sift together 2 c. flour, 1 1/2 tsp baking soda, 3/4 tsp cream of tartar, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/2 c. cocoa powder. Add the dry ingedients to wet, alternate with 1 c. water, and mix well. Drain, chop, and THOROUGHLY RINSE the saurkraut and stir into the batter. Pour batter into a greased and floured pan and bake at 350 for about 40 minutes - check it after 30 minutes, though. You can frost it after it’s been cooled completely.
I can’t emphasise the need to rinse the saurkraut though, be thorough.
All you need to start an asylum is an empty room and the right kind of people.
When I get home I will look through my wife’s recipe database. Yes, she has a database, which makes her A)Extremely Organized, B)Overloaded with recipes, or C)a big nerd for enjoying the creation of databases.
Or, maybe it is all of the above.
But, she does have a ton of recipes and I fiugre there has to be a German dessert or 2 in there somewhere.
