Any Doper Eagle Scouts?

Life Scout. Had way more than enough merit badges for Eagle, but never could swim well enough to get the required Life Saving merit badge. So it goes…

Cub Scout, Scout (Aspull and Haigh) then Venture Scout (Springfield). Was a “sixer” in the Cubs, APL then PL in the Scouts.

We don’t have Eagle Scouts in the UK.

Eagle Scout- '04, 2 Palms, OA.
Did the whole summer-camp-every-year thing.
I went on in 04-part of 06 leading Webelos.

Was also active in webelos, but not tiger, wolf or bear.

Still go camping occasionally.

Good times.

I got Eagle too. But since they’ve become serious about excluding gay people and atheist, I really don’t care anymore. Heck, I hide it because I don’t want to be associated with them anymore.

Eagle Scout with Silver Palm, Brotherhood Member of OA. 1986. I basically want nothing to do with BSA now, though.

Jeez, I’m surprised all you OA guys are admitting it. I was never a member but I was under the impression they were somewhere between the Masons and the Illuminati in terms of secrecy about themselves.

I was one of the few kids I knew who was in Cub Scouts AND Webelos AND Boy Scouts. I reached Star in Boy Scouts. My mom was really disappointed I didn’t go on to Eagle. I just wasn’t into it by then, our troop was small and there were no guys close to my age at that point.

Ahh, that’s the sash with two red bars. It’s been so long I’d forgotten.
Made it to Life and then, like Rick, discovered girls.

I think I made it to 2nd class, but then I moved. The troop I was a member of thought that playing kickball during meetings, and that wet wood meant that you needed more lighter fluid. Good times. The troop in my new town was more like “Let’s do arts and crafts”, and I was like, “uh no.”

Wimachtendink. Wingolausik. Witahemui.

Eagle scout here. OA Brotherhood member. Explorer post president.

Went to the 1977 Jamboree as well - at More-Rain state park. Good, but soggy times…

I couldn’t have come up with that in a hundred years. Did you just remember it, or did you have to look it up?

Eagle Scout.
Brotherhood in the OA.
JLTC trained and staff.
NJLIC trained.
National Jamboree.
Philmont Trek.
Philmont Ranger.

(APL, PL, TG, Instr., ASPL, SPL, JASM)

Yeah, you could say I was involved in scouts.

Almost forgot:

Explorer Post VP.

I can whittle, but only if you want something that looks like a de-barked stick. And I definetely would have had to look 'em up.

Oh yeah: I also want nothing to do with BSA these days.

Secret OA handshake

Now I have to kill you.

Dude, I and my older brother are Eagle Scouts, and four of my cousins are also Eagle Scouts, and yup, they are two sets of two brothers as well.

I was also OA, and went to Philmont and did the 50-mile thing (actually, it was closer to 80 all said and done.) I also went to Philmont in 2000, so I got a special, one-year only, Philmont badge. I was also attacked by a bear while camping on top of Black Mountain while there.

My (younger) brother and I both became Eagle Scouts in June of 1998. I had a bronze palm, and we were both Brotherhood OA members. My youngest brother became an Eagle Scout a few years later. I also worked at camp for a couple summers.

My grandfather became an Eagle Scout around 1928, and we still have his medal. My father never got past First Class and always regretted it, so he became an Assistant Scoutmaster and made sure we all became Eagles.

I loved my time in Scouting and would love to get involved again, but I can’t join in good conscience until their policy on homosexuals changes.

May I jump on a soapbox for a moment?

BSA will never change their policies because of the complaints of people who aren’t involved in the organization, imho. I, personally can make damn sure that none of the boys in my pack are bothered because of their religious beliefs or sexual preferences.
The more packs and troops that have to meet in churches because public schools have to kick us out, the more religious the organization becomes, and if the only people that join are bible-thumpers then the BSA will become Biblethumping Scouts of America.

I’m done now.
After more thought, there is a 50/50 chance that I only made 2nd Class. I do know that I resented being a Tenderfoot, so stuck it out at least long enough to got past that…

Eagle Scout, Brotherhood OA.

81 and 85 National Jamborees, 83 International Jamboree.

APL, PL, SPL (for like 3 years; I was the FDR of our troop!), ASM.

Did the summer of 84 as a Summer Camp Counselor, teaching Camping and Wilderness Survival, and was asst. on the Archery, Rifle and Skeet ranges, as well as “honorary” Wrangler, and ocasional lifeguard and substitute for Canoeing, Sailing, Swimming and Lifesaving; my OA nickname for that summer was “Bob Havemanyhats.”

Did the summer of 85 as a JLTC Staff.

Girl Scout Gold Award, 1995.

Eagle and OA 1974.

Also, I was arguably one of the last Cub Scouts to receive the Lion badge. It used to be Wolf, Bear, Lion, Webelos. It was announced the day after I received my Lion badge that they were dropping it.

Also Sccoutmaster 1981-1983.

Any Camp Emerald Bay (Catalina Island) alumni?
