No purse here. If I had one I’d lose it. I make sure that I have LOTS of pockets. My daily attire is not required to be formal. So I guess I’m lucky. For those special occasions I have my husband use his pockets for my “makeup and stuff”.
I keep my keys on a change purse for times when I just need money and keys. I usually carry a large purse that can hold anything, and often carry a shoulder sack.
Hey, it’s not like I have one of those big janitor-type key rings in my bra! Just the car key. That’s it! Not even on the ring. One little flat key, right in the middle. The key ring with all the other keys stays in the car. The license can tuck nicely into the side of the bra, not the clevage. I’m a c-cup, which is a nice fit – things stay put but nothing gets lost. : ) I’m currently a telecommuter, so it’s not like this is a daily thing. I figure, if I’m going out someplace & a purse will only get in the way, well, I’m wearing a bra anyway – might as well maximize the space!

Guy here, but I can certainly understand why many women seem not to like dealing with purses. I also hate to carry things; which makes a jacket pretty much a dealbreaker in L.A… If you wear a jacket in L.A., you always–always! end up removing it, and then you’re stuck holding it. And that makes it not so good for storing important things as they tend to fall out of upside-down pockets.
Yeah, even though I live on the East Coast I will do everything I can to avoid wearing a jacket/coat when I go out. I’d rather be a little chilly walking between the bar and the car/metro than have to deal with a jacket once I’m inside (and it’s definitely coming off, because I’m not one of those women who is cold all of the time). The only time I have a dilemma is when it’s raining hard or snowing – in those cases I either suck it up and bring the jacket or I just don’t go out. 
I didn’t own a purse for 10-15 years and got along fine, carrying what I needed in my coat pockets or, on those rare occasions when I needed to carry more, used a canvas gym bag.
My mom gave me a small black purse of hers last winter when I needed one for my office holiday party–my black velvet dress had no pockets and I couldn’t go around all evening wearing my trenchcoat like Colombo or dragging a gym bag. The purse is now in my front hall closet, should I need it again this year.
