I’m seeing a good doctor, and I’m on all kinds of meds, so I’m not looking for medical advice here. Rather, I’m looking to see if any other Dopers have had surgery for Ulcerative Colitis (or know someone who did) and how it turned out. What was your experience? Which type of surgery was it? How long did it take you to recover? Is your life really better now after the surgery than before?
I’m considering the surgery myself, but wanted to get some personal anecdotes about it as part of my “research.” Everything I’ve read online says it is much better afterwards, but the testimonies I see all seem to be affiliated with some surgical specialist or gastroenterological website, so I’m afraid they have an “agenda” in their testimonies.
So, how 'bout it…anyone out there care to pipe up?
