When are we gonna meet, and who volunteers for hosting? I may be able to host in about a month, after I upgrade, but right now I’m only running a 266 with 128M RAM. I do have a cable modem though.
I have a 550 with 320 meg of ram.But it’ll be another month before i get my DSL line.
I have a p3-500 w/256MB and a voodoo 5 64MB. I also have a 1.5MB ADSL line…which is about 750 upstream. I can host. The only problem is though, well, I have never hosted before. I have -no- idea what to do for setting rules etc. I also have a P200 w/64MB on my home LAN that I could make as a dedicated server if we wanted to try that…do you think that would work OK? Does TFC support dedicated servers?
I’d be up for such a event.
Anyone have any favorite servers? We could just setup general times (5-8 every night), on one particular server. Any suggestions?
You can aquire said crack at http://www.megagames.com , they have tons of no cd cracks. The problem you are going to have is it checks your registration number with it’s online database. If somone else is using that number, it won’t let you play. You can get a key generator, but good luck finding a number that works…
I’m more of a counter strike guy myself, although since i have started playing cstrike, i am really awesome at tfc. Most the ppl that i see playing tfc would get destroyed playing an even average player at cstrike.
Anyways, i will think about it, but i just don’t know that i have the time. Make sure to register your handle and info at http://www.theclq.com and also, you might want to try and get on some ladders at the online gaming league.

I think we should have a dedicated server. However, the person that is hosting it cannot play on the same computer. If we just use other servers, they have to be dedicated. Anyone up for a game soon?
I play counter strike mostly (as NUKEMAN) though used to play a lot of Quake TF on a LAN network ducks to avoid rain of debris from jealous people which, IMHO, was much better than the Half-Life version.
Dont you like counter strike red?
Teamwork is much more important in counter strike and the sniper rifles are better 
Well, I am in the process of making my new system up. Within a couple weeks it should be on line (1.2Ghz T-Bird w/512MB RAM). I will then have on my home lan a P3-500 w/128MB (parts of my existing system) to use as a dedicated server. This is on a super reliable ADSL line that is 1.5 down and (I think) 750 up.
Would this do for our “dedicated server?” I wouldn’t be able to let it go 24/7, but I could for sure whenever “we” play. As I mentioned earlier, I would need someone to show me the ropes with how to set up a server.
Let me know, and if those involved want to, we should probably consider swapping email addresses to get something formal set up.
Sheesh, bernse, you’re making me drool! Basic hosting isn’t very hard, have you played with it yet? I think setting up a dedicated server is a simple as clicking a check box IIRC, but you probably will need 2 serial numbers to be able to play from your other computer. A P3-500 w128/MB should be able to handle a good size game no problem.
I’ll play around with my system tonight and see If I can figure out rolling maps and that sort of thing.

Well me and my buddy have been playing TFC almost since it first came out. We’re above average at the least when we get some practice in and started up our own fake two-man clan. If you can get this organized and working, we’d probably be willing to join.
Also, whoever hosts should probably check out the various server admin pages and info dealies. It would also be cool if we could get someone w/ a really great line so the server could support like 16 people or so (I suppose having 16 clan members would be important too). This would probably require like a T1 or SDSL 1.5 for best results so everyone gets a pretty sizeable amount of bandwidth.

Well I just ordered up the components for the bernse2 SuperComputer. I will get them by the end of next week. Give me a few days to get everything all honky-dory after that, and barring any big emergencies I could have it running as a server by a couple of weeks if you guys are OK with that…do you think that 750 upload ADSL is going to be good enough? How many people do you have here that are interested then?

I’ve been playing tfc for a while, not since it was first released, but right after the second update for it… I’ve not played it in almost 3 weeks though, I’ve been playind Deus Ex.
For those that care
My DSL is on Telus. That is a Canadian network that should give super pings for Western Canada/NW US. I have also played on servers from the SE US and had decent sub 200 pings too. I can’t wait to give this a go now.
