Any expert iPhone unlockers, a problem

I have a 3g iPhone. I had already successfully unlocked a 2g, so I felt pretty confident moving forward unlocking the 3g.

Which was running 4.2.

Which meant doing the whole ipad-baseband thing.

Fine. Everything SEEMED to work (jailbroken too). Except it doesn’t read the sim. Sim works, I tested it in the 2g. But two different working sims are seen by the iphone but it registers as “no service”. Any ideas before I sell this thing as an iPod touch on ebay?

Thanks!

Try connecting it to itunes and try a restore to factory. Failing that, hold down the power and the D pad until you can see the usb cable on the screen and put it into DFU mode, then restore.

Regular restore isn’t possible once an unlock is done the way I’ve done it But I’ve restored it twice with custom restore and that’s not helping.

Sounds like the base band aspect of it was updated. I have never updated the base band, but, don’t you have to use your original SIM to activate it?

Did you use RedSn0w or Ultrasn0w?

Did you try an untethered jailbreak using the website approach?

I’ve now done it with Redsn0w and Pwnage both, multiple times through multiple stuck on recovery modes.

Looks like I have a very pretty iPod Touch.
