So to ease the filling out of multiple W2 forms, I’m in need of a free (or otherwise non-bankrupting) program that can fill out W2 forms using a inket printer (a Dell A940 all-in-one FWIW). Google returned a few results, with price tags of $499… Yikes, any better solutions?
Here’s a not quite free, but fairly low-cost solution:
Some versions of Turbotax will do W2s and 1099s.
If you’re running a sole-prop, rather than a corp or LLC, then take a look at “TurboTax Premier Home & Business for Windows for Tax Year 2003”. It costs $80 and does that. Now their basic personal tax versions cost either $30, $40, or $60 depending on features.
So if you were going to buy, say, the middle version anyhow for your personal taxes, then the business tax and W2 features only cost an extra $40.
If you’re a corp or LLC then you need the $100 business version of turbotax to help with the corp/LLC filings and get the W2 feature for free.
If you usually use some other brand of tax software, check out their business tax versions; they’ll probably offer W2 printing as well.
Every year at this time I see W2 forms shrink-wrapped with dedicated W2-printing programs for sale at Officemax. Not free, but pretty cheap ($20?)
