Any good rental listing sites for Canada (Ontario)?

I’m moving back to Canada to pursue graduate studies in Kingston, Ontario, but boy is it hard to find a place from across the ocean. I’m living in the Netherlands, so I have to do this all remotely, and all my google-searching is turning up rental listing sites that are of the ‘mostly to display ads’ variety. The few sites I have stumbled across don’t usually have many listings.

Is there a good rental listing site out there that everybody uses and I’m just not finding?

I use Craigslist all the time for Toronto and it works in Kingston too.

Queen’s housing service.

Other colleges should have housing listing services too. In Toronto there are alternative newspapers with good ads; I don’t know about Kingston.

I have a friend living in Kingston whose brother has a few rentals. If he’s got nothing appealing, at least she can put you on to where to search.

Wow, she’s fast. From her:

"I just emailed [her brother] to ask him what he’s been posting his ads on -
I’ll let you know what he says when he gets back to me and you can let
this person know.

There’s one fairly new Craigslist type place [her other brother] has been using to
list my parents’ rentals -

cowgirl – I hadn’t thought to use Queen’s student services. I’m going to RMC, so I guess I didn’t think of it. Thanks! (I’ve been looking at Craigslist.)

GingerOfTheNorth – thanks for contacting your friend! I’ll look at the links you’ve posted, in the meantime.
One of my challenges is that RMC is on that peninsula across the river from town, so just getting to Kingston is a 2.5-km walk. (I’m not going to be able to have a car.)

RMC isn’t far from downtown at all, unless they’ve moved or expanded since I lived there. Or maybe there’s facilities on the base that I didn’t know about.

I’m sort of confused - I thought you’re Dutch - I didn’t know foreigners were able to attend RMC.

RMC’s in the same place as always… Google Maps suggests it’s a 2 km walk from the classrooms to the mainland, though, and then some distance again to any of the apartments I’ve found.

In fact, I’m a Canadian citizen, but I’ve been working in the Netherlands. I expect only Canadians can go to RMC’s undergraduate “officer academy” program, but I don’t know the rules for the graduate program. In any case, I’m Canadian, and I’m in.

Ah! Well, then, welcome home to you. There’s a Tim’s right around the corner. The corner is RMC, then the ferry to Wolf island, then a gas station, then Tim’s. Please send some.

Wolfe Island! I’ll have to see what I can do

Thanks for your help – I’m monitoring several of these links.

I may be biased toward the family, but I think you can’t go wrong renting from them. You can email the owner of the Coverdale, he owns other places in town as well and often rents to students.
