Any Grace Potter and the Nocturnals fans out there?

My only exposure to this band is the PBS “Artists Den” show in NYC. Seeing it right now for the second time. Seems like a very tight group.

Liking it.

A couple of my buddies have been singing their praises for a while, but I only recently started paying attention (better late than never, I guess). The “old” band was a little more… organic (?) maybe, but the new band probably has a wider appeal. Their first (?) big hit, Paris (Ooh La La) has all the trappings of a dime-a-dozen pop act, but this band can PLAY! “Come for the cute chicks in short skirts, stay for the serious (and seriously cool) music!” That’s been my take on it, anyway.

If wanting them to do well so I can hear more makes me a fan, then I guess I’m a fan.

She’s hottern’ hell, which is distracting from the fact that she’s a great musician, singer, keyboardist, guitarist, what have you. And the band is great; wish the songs were a bit more memorable.

I really like them and hope their rise continues…along with her skirts.

I saw them in concert back in 2008 and was kinda “meh” about them (hadn’t heard them prior to the concert). I should probably check them out again at some point.

I watched the YT vid Dfrnt linked upthread and in the comments someone recommended this one of Grace and Satriani covering Neil Young’sCortez The Killer. Young fan that I am I had to check it out. I think it’s from an MTV awards show. Her vocal starts out kind of so-so on the quieter part but when she starts to let it rip…it gave me the shivers.

No short dress in this one though :frowning:

I think she’s making enough dough to hire a stylist now, she looks better in the newer, blonder videos.

There’s one of her with Warren Haynes (a guitarist/singer I like a lot) but I haven’t watched it yet.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention Satches crazy “guitar face” at about the 4:00 min. mark in the Cortez vid.
Like he’s seeing visions !

A recent discovery for me and she’s just great.

I’ve never actually heard her, but am obligated to be a fan, because she graduated from the same high school my son did.

Click the “Cortez The Killer” link above, excellent place to start although she is a chameleon, has many different styles, all good.

One of my top tracks is with Gov’t Mule - Gold Dust Woman.

I’ve been a fan every since I Chose You

I saw them play a festival in I think 2010. Their musical intro, including Grace’s howl, was like elemental rock. Quite a charge. I was completely primed to be blown away and made a fan. And then… absolutely everything that followed was, in comparison, a complete disappointment. Oh well.
