Any Grim Dawn (PC Game, Diablo clone) fans?

I picked up Grim Dawn on sale on Steam over the weekend. It’s been on my wishlist for a while and I couldn’t pass it up for $5. I had been playing Borderlands 3, but quit playing it solo once my wife started playing with me, it’s much more fun with her. So needed a new game!

I’ve got about 7 hours in, and I can’t say enough good things about it so far, especially for $5…but it looks like it’s back to $24.

If you like the gamelay of Diablo III, I would recommend keeping it on your radar, or even blowing the whole $24 once you get your stimulus check.

Story and side quests at this point actually seem a little better than DIII. No huge cinematic cutscenes, but DIII seemed to kind of use those as a crutch. Visuals are good, environments are nicely distinct from each other. Monsters/enemies are fun to fight.

Speaking of fighting, it feels and sounds satisfying and impactful. I’m playing on Normal difficulty (b/c I suck at video games) and that’s enough to keep me challenged and dying once in a while, without being too casual or difficult. I feel like once I’m used to the game I could bump it up though. I’ve only played one character, but her skill powerups are also fun to use. Nothing like getting a baddie’s health bar down and knowing that your next shot/strike will have a bonus!

Controls, everything that needs to be done can easily be done with a mouse. Having a hand near the keyboard is advised to hit the health hotkey, but unless you’re in deep trouble you can pretty much keep your left hand on your beer or your dog.

I’m off to play some more!

I had this on my radar but it fell off for whatever reason. I’m a Diablo fan (and fan of similar games like Torchlight) and it was intriguing.

It’s a great game, that is a victim of what makes it great, the massively complex skill and equipment system.

I got it back when it was new, and loved it, beat the campaign with the demolitionist , I think the class was called. I started the Harder level campaign run, but got distracted and went to something else. I get the urge to play it again now and then, and even got one of the DLCs… and do okay for a while, and make a few levels. Then I look at the skill trees, And my hundreds of pieces of newly found and stored equipment. And have absolutely no damn idea what my continuing build theory was going to be. Then I get stomped by a boss because of crappy leveling optimization, and lose the urge.

502 double post.

I played through it awhile ago, and enjoyed it reasonably well, but felt that the story kind of cut off halfway through. Diablo’s stories may have spoiled me.

I’ve played Grim Dawn quite a bit. And talking about Diablo I even installed a Diablo mod on this game which is pretty good.
I like the way that I can customize my different classes of characters and upgrade their special abilities.
And experiment with them to see how well they do.
I had one character that actually reached level 27 or 28 without dying once.
Now he has reached lvl 37 and has stayed there since I haven’t played this recently.

Another good diablo clone that is sort of like this is Path Of EXile.
Similar game play to GD.
Also Titanquest is good too.
