I will be getting my bachelors in sociology soon, and I hadn’t really considered a career in Hospice until very recently. The more I find out about it, though, the more I am interested. And so I have lots of questions that I’m trying to find the answers to, and maybe someone here will have the answers. I was wondering if a bachelors degree in sociology would be sufficient to work as a hospice social worker. Or would a degree in Social Work be more favored? Will I have to get my license in social work? How would I go about doing that? (My college only offers Soc, not social work) Are there any good books that will give me an idea of what to expect (other than Kubler Ross, obviously). What sorts of internships can I expect? What would a typical day at an average hospice be like? If any of you could answer any of these questions, I would greatly appreciate it.
