Any ID Addicts?

I’m talking about the Investigation Discovery channel. The one with all the real life crime shows.

As much as I like the channel, I’m wondering why they have SOOO many new shows. I’ve never seen a channel where it seems they’re announcing a new show at least once a week. Wtf? Anybody know the answer to that?

No idea, but my wife loves those Discovery Channel true crime shoes. “Bloomington Heights was a quiet town, not a town where you would ever expect that every other house contained a family of cannabalistic serial killers … but on one July morning, everything changed!”

I was addicted to this channel for a spell, but I prefer the shows with old news and courtroom footage of the actual events. Too many of the new shows are reenacted crimes with actors and they don’t hold my attention.

Plus one talking head, Candice DeLong, seemed to show up on every single show, and it was distracting because her appearance kept changing drastically. Was she ill?

Right here. As soon as I get done browsing here, I’ll be firing up the cable.

I like Lt. Kenda’s show.

I’d watch a cop show with the actor playing young Kenda.

I know a few people who acted in those shows, but, I’ve never seen the shows themselves.

Kenda’s show and Charisma Carpenter’s “Surviving Evil” are my two favorites. I also like that “scorned: love kills” show because it has this dynamic where when they introduce all of the players, you’re always wondering which one will end up dead. So it’s not just a “whodunit” but also a “who it gets done to”.

Murder porn is exactly what my fiance calls it when he makes fun of me for watching this channel. He walks the streets of Los Angeles at 4am to get home from work, but he’s only truly afraid for his safety when he walks through the front door and there’s blood and crime scene tape on the TV.

My favorites are Homicide Hunter (the actor’s name is Carl Marino btw) and Disappeared. They used to air awesome forensics shows like Forensics Files, but haven’t in a while.

It’s a clear sign you watch too much of this channel when you recognize the cases even when they’re featured on different shows.

She has judgey eyebrows.

HLN pretty much become the Forensics Files Channel at night.

Heh. I recognized the story profiiled in Tuesday night’s episode with the dogs from one of the other shows, might have been on Dr. G.

I watch Forensic Files on another channel, I want to say maybe the Learning Channel. Since those are half hour episodes, my husband doesn’t complain as much when I watch them. I save my murder binge time for the ID channel, when I can watch in uninterrupted peace.

I used to have to get my true crime fix exclusively from Ann Rule’s books, so this is as wonderful as can be.

I’m guilty of this as well

Last night’s episode of “Surviving Evil” was so disturbing that I can’t stop thinking about it. What absolute horror she endured. I’m surprised she lived through that.

Yes, Abracadabra. Surviving Evil’s recent episode was one of the worst. I kept thinking her husband would come to his senses, but nope. Didn’t they say he’s eligible for parole in like 2047? I think her and her son can breathe easy for awhile.

As far as ID channel. Yes, I have the sickness. I’ve seen every episode of Deadly Women (even the crappy first ones back in 2005).

I’m getting a bit concerned because stories that used to haunt me for days barely make me wince anymore.

There is one show that captivates me called “The Killer Speaks”. They’ve had 2 seasons and I hope they come back for a third. They interview the killer and go through his thought process in detail during the moments of the murder(s). Then a criminal psychologist observes his responses and points out the sociopathic flareups, body language, lies and basically what makes such horrible killers tick.

The “Hit Your Husband with an Ax and Bury Him Under the Front Porch” channel? Never heard of it…

Impossible. It’s ALWAYS the husband. He must have faked his death to frame that poor woman.

edit: By the way. The most infuriating ID eps are the ones where innocent people are seen to have been sent to jail on the stupidest and flimsiest of evidence only to be exonerated after years.

I used to watch*** I (Almost) Got Away With It*** and Disappeared religiously. However, no new shows and too many reruns caused me to rarely turn to ID anymore.

There aren’t enough crimes out there (***Dateline ***and 48 Hours pretty much covered all of the "good” ones on network television) to make the channel interesting.

Bumping this old thread because Netflix recently added Forensic Files.
