On a rerun of a 2000 Ripley’s Believe it or Not they showed a service that used homing pidgins to fly film to their development lab so you could take pictures far away from the lab, then have the pidgins fly the film back to the lab quicker than you could drive there.
But obviously with digital cameras taking over and fewer and fewer people using film I’m sure that this unique and creative service probably went out of business between then and now.
I don’t remember if they gave the name, and Google searches only bring up links to entries like this IMDB page.
Thanks GuanoLad. That Rocky Mountain Adventures link was old, so after doing some Googling I found a new site and they still seem to have Pigeon Express photography.
Funny, it still mentions flying film to the lab, when it should be updated to having the pigeons fly your memory card to a card reader.
Anyway, thanks for helping me satisfy my curiosity about something completely pointless.
