As one of the newest electronic technicians in the stable of the United States Postal Service, I have been sent to our national training center to attend a three-week school. The facility is about two miles (give or take) from the University of Oklahoma, and about 25 miles from Oklahoma City.
My days are consumed with classes, but my nights and weekends are my own. I have my first weekend coming up, and I anticipate time weighing heavy on my hands, unless I can find something interesting and fun to do. When I’m left to my own devices, that usually means karaoke.
Logic suggests to me that in a university town, there ought to be enough people with an interest to support at least a few places that run karaoke on weekend nights. Yahoo and Google haven’t been terribly helpful in finding me a place to get my fix this afternoon, and I’d appreciate any assistance I can get from the helpful Doper community.
I should mention that I left my money and ATM card home with my wife and daughter, and I only brought a couple of hundred dollars. So, while I could probably manage cab rides in and around Norman, Oklahoma City would just be too expensive for me to consider (they don’t have the most impressive bus system, and it stops running at 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays, anyway).
Anyhow, thanks in advance for any help you can proivde.
How did you get this name? I’m just curious because that address is kinda off the beaten path and I’ve never heard of it (not that I necessarily would have.)
I do remember a place on N. Porter from years ago that had a very nasty reputation (very rough and tumble sort of place called the Boot Hill Saloon*) but think it was further north than that. I’ll drive by and see what I see.
kaylasdad99 I sent you a PM. I’ve been living here a number of years and would be happy to show you around.
*really. Bikers and rednecks and frat boys, Oh My! Not that I didn’t fit right in.
