The time has come when I need to rid myself of my ancient Honda CRV (I call it the “Cervix”) and my recently-single eyes have turned to a Merc C230.
Are there any Teeming Millions out there who own one?
How do you like it?
Quality issues? (I’ve had a few friends who have had Audis and BMW’s who HATE their cars because of the crappy construction)
Mainenance problems?

Ours is badged a C200k, but it’s the same car. Flawless really. The question is whether you have a good service network in your area.
We’ve given it regular servicing, which hasn’t been expensive, and it is a gem. Acceleration from take-off is moderate but after that it is all lively.
Any quibbles? It is quite heavy for its dimensions, so the tyres need rotation and replacement a little more often than you may expect. The engine note is a bit gruff under firm acceleration. And you must go for the automatic transmission, apparently the manual does not suit it. It is not wide enough for 5 adults.

Can you explain further the term “regular servicing”?
The scheduled service intervals. There has not been any call for unscheduled maintenance.
I’ve done a quick internet search and it seems there is a 7-gear, 6-cylinder car now sold as the C230. Ours is 5-gear, 4-cylinder, so you may wish to bear that in mind.
Also the back seat is a little tight for tall people.
