Any mystery safe stories?

I was cleaning out an older in-law’s garage a few years back and came across an old locked safe. No one knew what the combination was or the last time it was opened. I was very interested in getting it open - even if it took a cutting torch (the safe was junk and set to be thrown out). Well, I had to take off, but I later heard that it was cut open and nothing was inside.

So I was wondering, any great mystery safe stories out there - personal or otherwise? I’m hoping they’re not all Al Capone’s vault.

Yes, I was a security guard when I was in college. They were tearing down an old hotel and found a small room of safety deposit boxes in the basement. They found a number had not had their contents removed. One had around $10,000 in jewelry.
