Any news on the Time-warner Cable DVRs?

I had read an article (or heard a news report) that Time Warner was test marketing a line of DVRs that doubled as a subscriber’s cable box.

I was going to get TiVo, but I don’t see the point if Time Warner is going to have a competing product.

Anyone heard anymore about this?

Test marketing? I thought they were available everywhere. I’m in Albany, NY and I’ve had mine for a year.

I LOVE IT!!

I don’t know how it compares to Tivo or any others, but you can pause and rewind live TV, record 2 shows at once and holds up to 50 hours worth of shows.

The only downside I’ve seen is that if you are recording the maximum two shows at once and you want to watch TV at the time, you either have to watch one of those two shows. You can watch something you’ve recorded, though, which is what I end up doing when I’m recording 2 at once.

My mother has had hers for longer and she’s in rural Northern NY. They were available there before ours were. I finally taught her how to use it and now she’s hooked. She loves it, too.

There is a monthly equipment fee and service fee which adds up to about $14 or $15, if I’m not mistaken, but they hooked us up with a package deal, using our existing pay services and we’re paying $3 less than when we didn’t have the DVR.

I’ve had mine for months, too. It’s great!
