My wife is working on a project and is trying to find sources that display the Nativity Scene. She’s a big fan of Alma-Tadema Fredric Leighton, Albert Moore, etc. I know that it is unlikely that there is a Naturalist painter who got religion, but who knows. I’ve been Google-ing for an hour with no luck.
I found a nice 3 Kings from Leyendecker (another fav) but no Nativity…
…anyone have a tip for me?
Are you asking about the rock group from Detroit? Maybe Coz Canler has.
William Blake was most certainly a Romantic painter, but I’m not sure if his ‘The Descent of Peace’ would be helpful to your wife. It’s very lovely, although it’s an illustration (to Milton’s “On the Morning of Christ’s Nativity”) rather than a painting, and you can see it here:

You might also try poking around for works by Caspar David Friedrich, a naturalist romantic painter with enough religion for a small nation. I don’t know of a nativity offhand, but you might find something you like.
