dlgirl - details! We want details: it’s fun to see what I take for granted through someone else’s viewpoint.
If you want details, I will e-mail them to you, screech-owl. I have started writing them down and i think they would take up too much room here.
To anyone else, you can e-mail me too. I love getting mail. That way I know that I am still wanted.
I will just reiterate that my experiences were not lacking. I found that I appreciate my family, but being with them for a week was definite trying. I missed everyone here, too. {{{everyone}}}
Correct me if I am wrong but IIRC
In Disneyland the Pirates chase the women around except the fat lady who chases a Pirate.
In DisneyWorld the women chase the Pirates waving brooms and rolling pins and such and threating to open a can of whuup-ass on them.
Or did the they just change both of them to be more PC, which I doubt because they still *sell[/] the women first.
Anyone been to both parks recently?
Slightly off the subject, but:
Now is not a good time to be a Disney Fan in Seattle. Every single Disney Store within 15 miles is gone. Kaput. No longer there. WHERE AM I GONNA SHOP NOW?!?
I love the movies – even the bad ones, like “Black Cauldron”. I collect the Mattel Dolls (I have every one they’ve ever made, so far) and plan to continue as long as Disney does.
Heck, I may even buy some stock in the next year or so.
Zebra, here is what I remember.
DL - Women, holding trays of food, being chased by pirates, while the last woman in the scene is chasing a pirate with food. Doesn’t make any sense, but oh well.
MK - I believe you are right about the brooms and stuff. I think there was food thrown in there too, but can’t be too sure. I have only been on it a couple of times.
I took a four credit college course on Disney…a real “Mickey Mouse” course…
I am not kidding. Taught through the Art History Department at the University of Minnesota by Karol Ann Marling. And not an easy “A” either.
I don’t consider myself a “freak” - although I know people who are “freakish” about Disney. I am merely a fan - and beginning to get sick of Disney animation (believe it or not) with a two and three year old at home (how many times can one person watch “Fox and Hound” - my husband has all the mistakes in “Robin Hood” cataloged - and there are lots. Fortunately, Wallace and Gromit provide a nice palate cleanser).
I am looking forward to taking my kids on their first trip to WDW and on the ship next year - when the little one is three and potty trained.
Welp, I had a great day at DL after the Dopefest. Finally rode Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Pinocchio, and Casey Junior’s train for the first time. Took my friend the freak on the Columbia for the first time as well. T’was quite fun, even if I did get sunburned. Also did California Screamin’, and I did Golden Dreams for the first time (very touching movie).
And I even got to give my father the best Father’s Day gift he’d ever gotten - while walking down Main Street the Dixieland band started playing, so I pulled out my cell phone and let Dad listen. He nearly cried. (And they say I’m a freak!)
Esprix
Esprix, you may have gone too soon. They just started advertising a new discount for Southern California adults to enter DCA at the child’s price (and only DCA). (That’s $33 instead of $43 for those of you keeping score at home.)
This, I think, indicates that DCA is not as popular as Disney had hoped. They’ve offered Southern California discounts for DLP before, but only in the fall and winter off-seasons. Offering such a discount for the summer is unprecedented.
Personally I don’t see what all the blubbering is about. It’s a decent park! When I was there, it was its normal summertime crowdedness, and no line in either park was more than 45 minutes long.

<ahem>
I’ve always considered Walt Disney and all his cronies to be right up there with Adolf Hitler and his Nazis as the worst thing to hit the planet in the 20th century.
Every time I’ve looked at Disney (even as a wee Barbarian) I’ve thought: Evil! That’s pure Evil! Why are you laughing at this mind-sucking material? You’ve all been brainwashed!
If I may…
:rolleyes:
And you chose to take valuable belly button-lint picking time to tell us this… why, exactly? Because I can’t think of a group less inclined to hear it.
Moving along now… any of my fellow DF’s out here pin traders? How hot is it? It seemed to be more in DL than WDW, but maybe I’m wrong.
