Any other Dopers who have never been to Europe?

My wife and I have our Top Ten list of places to see:

  1. Tahiti
  2. Australia (she has family there and has been - I have not)
  3. Brazil
  4. Scotland (her father was from Fraserborough, my ancestors are from there)
  5. Italy (southern part more so than the northern)
  6. Whatever parts of Africa will allow us to see elephants in the wild
  7. The naked city in France
  8. Seychelles
  9. Greece
  10. Hawaii

We’re not fond of cold weather and, for some reason, Asia doesn’t hold much allure.

Trust a Lunnoner :stuck_out_tongue:

Get thee to The Forest of Dean or Sherwood Forest or The New Forest or any forest for that matter.

Go in April/May, you’ll be amazed my friend, amazed at the carpet of bluebells stretching for hundreds of yards in every direction

Sounds great!

Er, can I use my oyster card in Sherwood forest?

I spent 2 years living in London and never crossed The Channel.

Just as a matter of interest, Bluebells are a protected species. It is a criminal offence to remove Bluebell bulbs from any site, public or private

47 - never been outside the N American continent.
Youngest is a HS senior, so my wife and I plan on doing some traveling in upcoming years. Middle child plans on studying in Germany for a year - that might provide a good excuse for a first visit.

Never been; want to go. My wife was an exchange student in Austria in her teens, and last year, as some of you know, she lived to London for a month-long study program. She is dying to take me all over Europe. Hopefully, we can make that come true in the next two or three years. Fortunately, I conquered my fear of flying a couple of years ago (NinetyWt, we should talk!), so the travel itself won’t be a problem.

Well if you ever end up in Ireland you’re ALL welcome to stay at my house.

sigh

I’m thirty-six years old, and I would love to go to Europe. Never been.

The main spots I want to see are London, Paris, Florence, Rome, the Greek Isles, and bits of Turkey.

Some day…

I’ve never left the states, and yes, I want to.

Not even Canada? My SO has never gone anywhere outside the continental US except for Canada. At least he has a passport now…most of his life he didn’t have one. (Just so weird to me).

I’m 28, and I haven’t been yet, but I want to. Especially England (maybe to visit the little village in Kent where my father’s family came from hundreds of years ago) and France.

But, first, I have to…err, leave the country. I really, really want to go to Canada and I never have, despite living in the Northeast. :frowning:

eta: Anaamika, I don’t have a passport either. We never had enough money to leave the country, so there’s no reason to have one. :frowning:

I’ve only technically been to Europe. I’ve been in the airport in Frankfurt while waiting for connecting flights to and from Egypt.

I’m 33 and don’t have my passport yet, although I’ll be getting one sometime this year.

In my lifetime, I’ve spent approximately 90 minutes in Canada (Windsor, to be specific) and perhaps 6 to 8 hours total in Mexico. Beyond that, my life has been spent on U.S. soil.

Yup. I know how that goes. Where do you live, your location field is blank? We drove to Canada last summer - just to Montreal and stayed two nights. It was wonderful.

The SO just got his passport last year, and he was 31, so don’t feel badly.

KneadtoKnow, I have been in the London, Frankfurt, and Paris airports. Le sigh.

I’ve only been in Europe as stopovers on my way to/from Israel, which is the only country I’ve ever been to (outside the airport) other than the USA and Canada. I’d love to go there, like I’d love to go everywhere, I’m an avid traveler and I want to see as much of the world as I can. Given an unlimited amount of money, I’d say Europe is probably third on my travel wish-list, behind a return to Israel with the entire family, and behind Australia.

I live in Connecticut. I need to get my stuff together and go to Quebec sometime. My dad doesn’t like vacationing much, and I live with my parents due to health problems (though I’m trying to get a better job and get out on my own) so I’m sort of thinly travelled…I’ve never even been to Vermont. :frowning:

Oh, my. Perhaps you should come to NY and visit me! I’m all the way in Albany, but I don’t think Danbury is very far from me…lemme check.

Danbury is only 89 miles. Then again, Albany is a lovely town but it doesn’t have that much for outsiders!

ETA: I meant to add, how far are you from Danbury? I am aware there is more than one town in CT!

Heh. Not too far from Danbury, or from Albany (which I have been to, though only to the really big mall with my best friend, who grew up close to there.) I have also been to Troy…and I don’t want to go there again.

Troy’s not that bad, and they have done some major renovations there recently. And Albany…they redid all of downtown Albany and the falls here are stunning.
