I bought the “Ultimate Chopper” and use it often. Like it for grating cheese, making dressings, etc. Are there any others you would recommend?
I bought the Bose Acoustic Wave stereo system. Granted, I was completely drunk at the time.
However, it’s a damn good sound system… it cranks out enough sound to fill my 2400 sq. ft. house, and doesn’t distort even at top volume. Some claim it’s not worth the 12x$83 payments, but it’s the best single unit sound system I have ever heard.
Sorry, but I think you got ripped off – this delivers just as much house-filling oomph as the Bose, and only costs a fraction of the price. I can’t even turn the volume up all the way because then my neighbors will complain.
As an electronic repair hobbyist, I visit various electronics parts and repair places. They all consider the Bose Wave boxes overpriced pieces of garbage. The attitude towards buyers of said systems is not G-rated.
I bought the Hair-Made blow dryer stand and it has changed my life. Since I don’t have to manipulate a heavy blowdryer in one hand and a brush in the other, I can concentrate on my hair. It only takes about 10-15 minutes to completely straighten my shoulder length, thick brown (mostly) hair. Mock me if you will, but it’s a life saver.
Well, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is certainly worth it. I was able to get some stains off a door that looked like they had been there for a lot longer than the 3 years I’ve lived in this apartment. With NO “elbow grease”! I have never seen anything else that actually works better than the ads.
I’ll second Wallflower on The Magic Eraser. Man, I love those things!! But I’m not sure they’re exactly in the category the OP is speaking of, because (AFAIK), they were always available in the grocery store, and were never a “mail-order only” item. Me, I’m always automatcally skeptical of something that’s being sold on an Infomercial (although I’ll admit that when Oxy-Clean became available in stores, we bought some and have been very pleased with it). I always figure I’ll do a little research to find out if it’s any good, then if it is, I’ll buy it when I can get it in a store and not have to pay outrageous S&H.
I have one of those vacuum sealers and like it a lot. I mostly use the large canister to keep lettuce fresh. (Only my husband eats lettuce, so this way I don’t end up throwing half of it away.) It helps cheese last forever. I don’t so much use the bags it came with (unless I’m dividing up large packages of meat) because they’re expensive, but I use it to re-seal stuff a lot in the original package: chips, snacks, etc.
This isn’t a TV item, but in a similar appliance vein: I bought one of those small 2-quart crock pots and use it constantly. I used to hardly ever drag out my big 5-quarter because it was just the two of us, but the 2-quart is the perfect size. And the much smaller crock is so light it’s not a chore to clean it, like the big crock. Love it!
I’ve been so tempted, but the commercials are so obnoxious that I’ve hesitated.
I’ve got the ‘better pasta pot’. I love it simply because it lets me fix everything in one pot. Unfortunately, the big one tends to smoke, so I only use the smaller one.
I’ve ordered Bare Minerals from TV - trying it out as makeup since my face is breaking out so badly. I’m looking forward to trying it.
Ava
The Garden Claw. Love it for weeding!
I hear ya on the informercials, Avabeth. I watched the Hair-made infomercial a few times before I took the plunge. I made sure to order off of the website instead of calling in so that I wouldn’t fall victim to upselling.
Congratulations on the bare minerals purchase. I use #3 and it seems to melt into my skin. Let me know how it works for you.
I love my Titanium knifes. They’re very attractive matte “metal” with stylish grey handles that compliment every kitchen decor. Their giant and uniformly serrated edges on every single knife is like you own an assortment of differently sized versions of the same knife! They cut quite a lot of things, and I love them!
Oh, sorry, What I meant is that they’re absolute crap.
