Infomercial products that were worth the money

I bought one of those personal mixers - the Magic Bullet. I love it. I only use it to mix protien fruit smoothies, but I love it. Low maintenance, easy clean up, etc.

What have you bought that you are happy with?

After about a year of debating, I bought one of those Hair Made blow dyer stands. I really like it. My hair was very long when I bought it. It took forever to dry and was quite awkward to style with one hand, not to mention my shoulders and arms would be aching by the time my hair finally dried.

It leaves both hands free to guide your hair as you dry, and no more achey arms and shoulders. I bought it at CVS for about 20 bucks. You can find most infommercial stuff there a few months after they begin advertising it.

I haven’t used it lately but only because I wacked my hair short last summer and don’t really need it right now. When my hair grows back I will definetley be using it again though.

Many years ago, I got a food dehydrator from one of these. I only use it for beef jerky, not the other stuff like veggies, but it is dynamite on this.

Completely satisfied with it.

(But do note, that I am a very hard sell, and this is one of only two products that I have bought from TV ads. The other was from just an ad, not an infomercial)

Vacuum sealer, magic bullet blender, the spinning caddy loaded with 3 different sizes of food containers, a funky purple fiber pompom on an extendable rod that is killer for getting the dust bunnies off the ceiling fan blades and other really high out of reach places, food dehydrater, microwave bacon cooking thingy which also came with a couple egg shaped microwave egg cookers.

I really want a pocket fisherman, and the rotisserie oven from Ronco.

I finaly got one of those for Christmas. I have never seen an infommercial for them though, so I never thought to add that to my post.

I have that one too. Kinda dissapointed in it, the spinning base thingamajig is really flimsy.

My nephew got one of those for Christmas. We all got a laugh about that. I didn’t even know Ronco was still around, I hadn’t seen one of thier ads since childhood.

Still around??? Ronco is THE name in American Infomercials!!! He’s responsible for pretty much everything that’s out there. Not to mention his rotisserie which added “Set It and Forget It” to out list of catch phrases. . .

Ronco makes everything. Pasta Maker, Juicers, Dehydraters, Bakers, Cutters… everything.

Oh… and dont forget the GLH, the spray you use to cover up bald spots… lol

Knock yourself out=)

Wow.

Apparently I have not been paying attention! :smack:

I just remember as a kid hearing that boisterous “BY RONCO!” at the end of the commercials. I don’t remember hearing that in recent memory. :dubious:

Meant to ask earlier…aruvqan, how do you like the microwave bacon gadget? I love bacon, but never buy or cook it because it looks like a lard factory exploded all over my stove after making it.

Is fine if i only need enough for one person, but i seem to end up making it for an army=\ It will spatter inside the microwave unless you place a paper towel over it to supress the spatters. But, for one sammy worth of bacon, is great - keeps the slices of bacon flat and straight=)

I use a spatter shield - sort of a frying pan lid made of mesh screen. you set it over the frying pan and it keeps the grease from spattering out. keeps the stovetop relatively greaseles=)

Got’s to get me one of those. Wonder if Ronco makes them?!

The George Foreman grill. We use it 3-4 times a week, easy. Works great, easy to use and clean, makes tasty meats.

We’ve got a dehydrator, use it on jerky and to dry out the mushrooms we hunt. (No, not those kindsa shrooms.) We also have the stacking storage containers and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. We had a large, useless cabinet foll of tupperware stuff falling out all over…we got that cabinet back.

Things we HATE - that superdeduperscientific egg shell peeler. Never Worked Once.

I’ve never bought the Little Giant ladder, but I know someone who has, and it is pretty darn good. Sturdy and dependable. I’ve had to take the OSHA 10 hour training for my work, and I haven’t looked at ladders the same way since.

To answer the OP, was it worth the money? Probably not to me, because I like it but haven’t bought it. It costs some serious money. But it’s not a gimmick even though it is being touted by infomercial.

Flitz metal polish. Actually I haven’t seen the informercials but I found it in the “As seen on TV” section of some store. Worked wonders on my polished aluminum bicycle frame.

The Table-Mate!

I actually bought mine off of QVC about 10 years ago and have used it nearly every single day since! It’s a tv tray-type table that you can slide right up to you on the couch or easy chair as close as you like. It’s wonderful for doing crafty stuff in front of the tv or eating dinner or reading, etc. I love it!

I believe they had just come out when I got mine. Now there’s commercials for them (But wait! If you call now, we’ll send you an extra one for free!) I want to get one (or two) for my Dad. They look exactly like the one I got but they’re obviously smaller, about the size of a standard tv tray. That really disappoints me because it’s so nice to have the large area that the older Table-Mates had. I wouldn’t trade mine for two of the smaller ones. Even if I did pay much more for it than what they’re selling them for now.

Still, hooray for Table-Mate!

Also, my Dad loves his George Forman grill.

Even as a vegetarian I love my forman grill. My morning breakfast is either a grilled goat cheese sandwhich or a grilled cheese and fake sausage sandwhich. I really want to laugh at everyone that buys those $50.00 panini makers when a forman that anyone can salvage out of a friend or relative’s closet make great pressed grilled sandwhiches.

I bought the Quick Chop, and it sucks. It’s too small to chop a decent-sized Vidalia onion, and the blades aren’t terribly sharp, so it crushes and pulverizes more than it chops, leaving a lot of juice on the cutting board. You also have to really slam it with your hand, and it’s so much easier to use a very sharp knife in the first place. Also, it is a pain in the ass to clean.

I am always sucked in to that commercial. I sort of want one, but I have a regular blender and a hand-held stick blender. Would the Magic Bullet just be redundant, and just another gadget taking up space?
(The stick blender is really easy to use and easy to clean.)

I dunno what to tell you. I didn’t find that stick blender as useful. But I think it fills the same niche and so if you find it useful, I don’t think you need a Magic Bullet.
