Any Pro Wrestling Fans in the Audience? (Multiple promotions) (Part 2)

It’s been a few years since I’ve made it to any indy shows, but that’s about to change - DEFY just announced their first ever arena show. This October, they’re taking over the Yakima Valley Sundome (capacity 8,000) for “Primolucha”, a lucha-themed supershow which is set to feature Hijo del Vikingo, Juventud Guerrera, and Ultimo Dragon along side other DEFY, AAA, and AEW stars. Should be a fun show, although on the downside now I have to figure out how to get to Yakima and back.

Last weekend I went to the Create-A-Pro show on Long Island. MJF actually wrestled and let the student look real good (while also getting shots in on Jungle Boy and promoting the PPV several times), (Bear) Bronson was the main event, and Max Caster was there (all CAP alumni). Assuming he is still in Plainview, MJF is ~1 town away from the arena. Brian Myers and Pat Buck run the school/promotion and were also there. Lastly, 70+ year old Chic Donovan wrestled, and he’s in great shape for 70+ and moves much better than Flair. Lots of hair plugs and bleach-blonde coloring, and a ton of time in a tanning bed and bronzer.

the original ultimo dragon or did he pass the name to someone else ?

you know I would die to see him and say nexus era HHH and him feud just to see who could act the bigger in-character prick

Same guy, still actively wrestling at age 56 and looking good for his age. He’s currently doing most of his wrestling in Dragon Gate.

I think my favorite NXTer is Gigi Dolan. She’s really good at playing a trainwreck. The storyline of her and her brother growing up in abusing circumstance is kind of treachly, but occasionally Jerry Springer angles get over.

She used to be married to Darby Allin. I remember a video of them where they ate really hot peanuts. They were sweating and tearing up, Darby took a big gulp of milk, then held her underneath him. She opened her mouth like a baby robin and Allin puked his milk into it. Reason being, she didn’t like milk and figured cutting it with Darby’s saliva somehow improved the taste.

Now she and Jacey Jayne are doing a weapons cage match this weekend. I’m sure there’s not going to be any blading like there would be in an AEW match, but I’m sure she’ll bring the crazy.

So we’ve got three big cards this weekend.

Saturday is Night of Champions from Saudi Arabia;

  • World Heavyweight Championship: Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles
  • Undisputed Tag Team Championship: Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn (c) vs. Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa
  • Intercontinental Championship: GUNTHER (c) vs. Mustafa Ali
  • Smackdown Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Natalya
  • Raw Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair (c) vs. Asuka
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar
  • Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus

And on Sunday, we’ve got Double or Nothing;

  • World Championship: MJF (c) vs. Jungle Boy vs. Darby Allin vs. Sammy Guevara
  • Tag Team Championship: FTR (c) vs. Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal (guest referee Mark Briscoe)
  • Women’s World Championship: Jamie Hayter (c) vs. Toni Storm
  • TBS Championship: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Taya
  • TNT Championship: Wardlow (c) vs. Christian
  • Battle royal for the International Championship: Orange Cassidy (c) vs. 20 TBA
  • Anarchy in the Arena: The Elite (Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, and Adam Page) vs. Blackpool Combat Club (Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, & Wheeler Yuta)
  • Lights Out match: Chris Jericho vs. Adam Cole (w/Sabu)
  • The Hardy Boyz & Isaiah Cassidy vs. Ethan Page & the Gunns

And opposite Double or Nothing, NXT is running Battleground:

  • NXT Championship: Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Bron Breakker
  • North American Championship: Wes Lee (c) vs. Tyler Bate vs. Joe Gacy
  • Tag Team Championship: Gallus (c) vs. the Creed Brothers
  • Women’s Championship: Lyra Valkyria vs. Tiffany Stratton
  • Heritage Cup: Noam Dar (c) vs. Dragon Lee
  • Last Man Standing: Ilja Dragunov vs. Donovan Dijak

I have to work on Saturday, so I’ll watch the Saudi blood money show when I get home, then catch Double or Nothing (which IMO has the stronger card) live the next day. I’m way out of touch with what’s going on in NXT these days, so I’ll catch that on replay if I’m not all wrestled out by the end of the weekend.

Considering Double or Nothing. Haven’t purchased an AEW show since they had a couple of major blunders like an incredibly lame exploding ring.

Two late updates to the Double or Nothing card; due to an injury, Hook wilk be taking Isaiah Cassidy’s place as the Hardys’ partner. Also, there will be a trios championship match featuring the House of Black (c) vs. the Acclaimed and Billy Gunn.

Sami Zayn got to make a pilgrimage to Mecca today, which he previously hadn’t been able to do because of the political situation between KSA and Syria.

Good for him.

My predictions:

Night of Champions

  • World Heavyweight Championship: Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles: Seth, but I think AJ is the better choice.
  • Undisputed Tag Team Championship: Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn (c) vs. Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa: KO and Sami retain when The Usos accidentally cause Solo to be pinned.
  • Intercontinental Championship: GUNTHER (c) vs. Mustafa Ali: Gunther throws Ali around like a rag doll and retains.
  • Smackdown Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Natalya: Rhea retains. ekedolphin Easy Pick of the Night.
  • Raw Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair (c) vs. Asuka: Bianca retains.
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar: Brock wins and we go to a rubber match with a stipulation. Last Man Standing or something.
  • Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus: Trish wins but the feud continues.

Double or Nothing

  • World Championship: MJF (c) vs. Jungle Boy vs. Darby Allin vs. Sammy Guevara: MJF retains.
  • Tag Team Championship: FTR (c) vs. Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal (guest referee Mark Briscoe): Jarrett and Lethal won the belts when Briscoe turns heel on FTR.
  • Women’s World Championship: Jamie Hayter (c) vs. Toni Storm: Hayter retains.
  • TBS Championship: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Taya: Jade retains. ekedolphin Easy Pick of the Night.
  • TNT Championship: Wardlow (c) vs. Christian: Wardlow retains.
  • Battle royal for the International Championship: Orange Cassidy (c) vs. 20 other men: I’ll go with Jay White, Keith Lee, or Cassidy.
  • Anarchy in the Arena: The Elite (Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, and Adam Page) vs. Blackpool Combat Club (Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, & Wheeler Yuta): The Elite.
  • Lights Out match: Chris Jericho vs. Adam Cole (w/Sabu): Cole.
  • The Hardy Boyz & Hook vs. Ethan Page and The Gunns: Hardyz and Hook. Hook is still undefeated, right?
  • Trios Championship: House of Black (c) vs. The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn: Scissor me, Daddy Ass.

im not a religious person but ive always wanted to go there because I’ve heard its an experience

Unfortunately, unless you plan on converting, they won’t let you in.

im told that they’ll ler foreigners go up to a certain point on the outskirts … or so the nat geo article said anyways

Holy crap, Jimmy turned on Roman!

I’m predicting a Roman/Jimmy singles match at an upcoming PPV, and possibly also a Roman/Solo vs. Usos tag match either before or after. Sami coming out in Saudi garb and introducing himself in Arabic was a great moment, and the crowd was NUCLEAR hot for him.

Cody jobbed, which was predictable enough - Brock not getting his win back is about as likely as Sneakers O’Toole taking off his sneakers. Based on the way the finish went down, I’m predicting an “I Quit” match for the rubber.

ehh only real surprise to me is Asuka won the title … but is it me or did they botch or hurry the ending I mean she wiped the dye in Bianca’s eyes and 30 seconds later it was over in the old days they’d of worked it for at least 2 or 3 minutes …
there were two squash matches tho that didn’t need to be there… the ic match and Rhea’s match but wow shes got the hot goth goddess role down pat doesn’t she?
The bloodline ending reminds me of when the horsemen would implode every so often except in the old days Roman would have punched the uso first for the kick …
And wow I know it was because they were in a religious Muslim country but that’s the most clothing I’ve ever seen any WWE female wrestler in decades …(although they did make them form-fitting)

Not a bad show I mean its gotta be better than the 80s/90s legends house shows it had been being

Good news and bad news. Good news, Mustafa Ali is back in NXT. Bad news, so is Baron Corbin.

Great news for Baron Corbin. I don’t have to watch him, and maybe he can turn his career around with some more development.
