Any Pro Wrestling Fans in the Audience? (Multiple promotions) (Part 2)

that was one of the problems with wrestling back then when all the off-ring stuff became big a lot of people didn’t know what was going on until they went home and saw the replay or highlights …

I went to the Las Vegas Halloween havoc and we didn’t see any of the sting stuff until I watched the PPV

So, here’s the card for All In this Sunday;

  • AEW World Championship: MJF (c) vs. Adam Cole
  • “Real” World Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Samoa Joe
  • AEW Tag Team Championship: FTR (c) vs. the Young Bucks
  • AEW Women’s World Championship: Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Toni Storm vs. Saraya vs. Britt Baker
  • ROH Tag Team Championship: Aussie Open (c) vs. Adam Cole & MJF
  • Casket match: Sting & Darby Allin vs. Shane Strickland & AR Fox
  • Stadium Stampede: Eddie Kingston, Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta, Chuck Taylor, Pentagon Jr. & TBA vs. Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, & three TBA
  • The Golden Elite (Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, & Adam Page) vs. Bullet Club (Jay White, Juice Robinson, & Konosuke Takeshita)
  • Chris Jericho vs. Will Ospreay

This show is on track to be the largest wrestling show ever held in the UK, and it oughta be a lot of fun. They’re holding All Out as a separate PPV one week later, which feels like a mistake to me since not a lot of people are gonna want to shell out PPV prices two weeks in a row (as WWE learned 30 years or so ago with Tuesday In Texas), but that card’s only got two matches announced so far (Miro vs. Powerhouse Hobbs and Luchasaurus vs. Darby Allin for the TNT title), so maybe they can put together a balls-to-the-wall card with the fallout from this show.

seeing how the Bullet Club (are they on loan from njpw?) spawned the elite I don’t see them losing that match and yeah I’m an 80s/90s kid so I’m a sucker for a Sting match punk and Joe should be a good match on paper don’t think ospreay is going to lose either

Mjf in 2 matches? if he wins the tag he’s losing the title and vice versa

RIP Terry Funk

It’s a different world without him. I-Quit match against Ric Flair. Hardcore matches against Foley. Him being the interviewer when the Four Horsemen turned on Sting. His appearance as a goon in Road House.

“Foley! HEY FOLEY! Your wife’s a whore. Foley. HEY FOLEY! Your kids are bastards! C’mon Foley. Hey Foley! The WWR sucks!”

wham!

The man could give some >classic heel promos<.

I used to catch a glimpse of him once in a while on Florida Wrestling with Gordon Solie and the one day he’s wrapped up Jack Brisco in a small package and suddenly he’s the NWA Heavyweight Champion. He already had a rough house cowboy style and after his title reign he add a level of craziness to it. In match against Dusty Rhodes he attempted to stick a ‘shiv’ in Dusty’s eye, and against Jerry Lawler he attempted to stab his eye with a broken board (pretty sure the shiv was just a piece of wood too). Then he claimed he put out the eye of a jobber in a steel cage match as a promotion. The future held branding irons and barbed wire and his theme song Desperado. He was a one man show in wrestling. All he had to do to create a main event match was walk into town and pick a fight with the first wrestler he ran across.

Bray Wyatt has died. This is so sad.

WHAT

I’d heard he’d been off since the Rumble with some nonspecified illness, but this is right out of left field. He and Brodie both died way too young and never got the kind of sustained push they should have. Sad day.

What an awful week for wrestling.

WHAT?!

Yes, Discourse, that’s a complete sentence.

The Wyatt Family was my favorite gimmick in the WWE at the time. So much potential squandered by WWE after the characters caught on. I was even interested in the recent Uncle Howdy stuff that went nowhere. Just so incredibly sad.

Damn. Apparently “Follow the vultures” because they’re looking for his corpse.

I made my own Wyatt Family shirt, and now two members are dead.

They never specified what illness laid him low for the past few months. Maybe his death was related to that?

Catching flies in his mouth
Tasting freedom while he dares
Then crawling back, back to the top, top of the stairs
He won’t see the sun again for years to come
He’s broken out in love

Like a cat without a care
Running freely through the streets
You could find him in among the pigeons in the square
But he won’t see the sun again for years to come
He’s broken out in love

This is so sad. Bray was climbing fast in the world of wrestling and this would have been the prime of his career. It’s a lot like this for anyone who died at that age, and that drives home the tragedy, 36 isn’t long enough for anyone’s life. That’s young, that’s a very productive time in most people’s life, and people should be able to look forward to a better future at that age. RIP Bray Wyatt, So sorry your life was cut short.

I was a huge fan of Bray. I’m gonna put on the Elimination Chamber match tomorrow morning and watch it on the big screen.

Here’s the Wyatt Family shirt I made a while back.

That hardcore tag-team match was disappointing. They only used one table and no other weapons!

Also, I know I didn’t see Rey Mysterio come down to the ring with his United States Championship belt, but he sure left with it.

The Ric Flair/Terry Funk I-Quit match from Clash of the Champions IX in 1989 still holds up.
