Those were all Vince bookings. HHH actually brought Reed back after he was wished luck in his future endeavors.
I’m aware. I’m just saying he doesn’t exactly share the most illustrious of company.
Honestly I’m surprised they’ve kept the AtGMBR going for this one. It always felt to me like one of those things that Vince would introduce with great fanfare and then immediately forget about, like Raw Underground, or Saturday Morning Slam, or the “brand supremacy” that was on the line at Survivor Series that would never be mentioned again once the show was over, or that period in 2019 where he decided that every match on Raw & Smackdown had to be best-of-three so they wouldn’t have matches going into commercial.
It was just one more way for Vince to cash in on Andre, and insult him once again.
Well, you were half-right. Truth getting the win for the Raw titles was definitely one of those “Wrestlemania moments” they like to talk about so much.
I’d rather watch Truth wrestling than most of the others last night.
Cody’s post-win celebration actually got me a little teary-eyed. Having all the babyfaces in the ring celebrating with him was like the medal scene at the end of Star Wars, and Cole and Graves actually sounded genuine gushing about how much they love wrestling.
THIS is how you finish a story.
Originally, it gave everybody in it something close to a WrestleMania appearance paycheck. Of course, now that it’s on SmackDown, it loses something. I am assuming it is now on Fox and not one of the two WM pre-shows because they think more people will watch it this way, especially as pretty much nobody gets Peacock for free any more (I think only people that pay for Comcast high-speed internet do).
Wm was great a few clunkers but pretty good on the whole …when everyone showed up I said whos next the undertaker ? and yep …
I wonder when trips is going to get the urge to be “MR levesque” and run a story I know not being involved in something bugs him a bit …
There wasn’t a single bad match at WrestleMania XL.
One thing that confused me: is Triple H’s last name pronounced “Luh-VESK” or “luh-VEK”? It sounded like Stephanie said the latter in her Sunday introduction.
Okay, so what’s the over/under on when WWE just stops even mentioning “Bloodline”, the way whatever Impact is called nowadays just dropped saying Aces & Eights immediately after it was forced to break up?
Lots of French Canadians in this area and they usually pronounce it 'luh-VEK". But not all of them stick to original pronunciations of other names. For instance, ‘Benoit’ is usually pronounced as ‘BEN-OIT’, not ‘BEN-WAH’ as one wrestler once called himself.
I’ve only ever heard it with the silent S. But then again, I remember reading years ago that Steph even calls him “Hunter” at home, so suddenly having to refer to him by his real name might be a change for her.
Was on the road over the weekend so I didn’t get to catch all of WrestleMania yet. But I did see the end of night one and most of night two while staying in a hotel room. I have since of course read the results so I do have an idea about what happened. Still curious to see the Rhea/Becky match and the six tag team ladder match.
The tag team main event on night one ended pretty much exactly how everyone expected it to. But it made sense so I’m okay with that.
Was shocked to see Stephanie come out at the beginning of night two. I know she’s been gone for a while now. How long has it been? Not speculating on any of the Vince stuff right now. I haven’t always liked Stephanie’s character but I have to say I’m glad to see her back at least for right now.
I completely bit on Drew’s opening claymore kick. I knew going into the match Seth is legitimately hurt right now so I really thought, right up to that second he kicked out they had made the decision that they wouldn’t let him wrestle again. Of course we still got a 10 to 15 minute brawl out of it with Seth fighting from underneath for the most part. Good match. And I liked the post match stuff with Punk and Damian Priest.
Loved seeing Cody finally finish his story. Time for the next chapter. Also loved seeing the baby face locker room empty out to celebrate with him. That felt very old school.
I also checked out the segment from raw the next night with Cody and rock. Kind of awkward, it felt like they didn’t quite know how to go forward and rock might be going away? Not sure exactly what’s going on there.
Rock said professional wrestling! On TV! Maybe I’m being overly optimistic right now, I’m known to do that sometimes, but is it just me or does it feel like WWE is starting to become a real professional wrestling company again? Baby steps in that direction at least. I’m cautiously optimistic.
She resigned from her position as co-CEO when Vince came back in January of last year.
According to what I’ve read, Hunter has decided to move away from the phrase “sports entertainment” and Vince’s list of banned words (“wrestling”, “belt”, “fans” etc.) is a thing of the past. Michael Cole yelling “Dammit, I love professional wrestling!” at the end of the show is honestly one of the greatest calls I’ve ever heard from a wrestling commentator not named Mauro Ranallo.
I’m also reading that Nick Khan somehow managed to track down a gold Rolex that Dusty Rhodes pawned 20 years ago to pay for Cody’s acting lessons, and gave it to Cody after the show. I can’t imagine a more heartfelt way of showing your appreciation for someone and I hope Cody gets the kind of top megaface run that Daniel Bryan’s injury in 2014 prevented him from getting.
What do you suppose Rock handed Cody on RAW? A bead from Roman’s necklace?
So did anyone else see the CM Punk/Jack Perry footage AEW aired last night? You can still find it on YouTube but from what I’m reading AEW is making a concerted effort to get it pulled down everywhere so you may want to hurry.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a wide consensus among internet wrestling fans that this was a complete self own. I’ve seen comparisons to the finger poke of doom and the Hogan/Jarrett/Russo situation from the dying days of WCW. My one question is: What was the point of this? Unless it completely contradicts punk’s story there was no way for aew to come out looking good. The arena last night erupted in CM Punk chants from what I’m reading and Tony Khan went forward with this against the objections of both the bucks and will osprey?
As I said before I don’t follow AEW closely. But I have to say it seems like Tony Khan is… let’s say “ill equipped” to be booking right now. Thoughts from AEW followers? Am I being overly negative?
And now, for something completely different - a trailer for an upcoming B-movie in which a group of retired WCW veterans fight an alien invasion in rural Florida, starring Glacier, Haku, Ernest ‘the Cat’ Miller, DDP, and Larry Zybysko.
That is going to be awesome and I must see it.
hopefully it will be better than the shane douglas produced wrestler horror movies
