So for dinosaurs like me who still have HBO on cable, does that mean I can watch AEW PPVs there?
Unfortunately he’s a little old to be wrestling, although Dustin Rhodes and Billy Gunn are still wrestling well into their late 80s. He was the greatest technical talent the WWE ever wasted with stupid gimmicks instead of letting him develop his performance skills over time. I remember some of his early matches where he demonstrated his lack of showmanship. He seemed to be phoning in the match but really it was just too easy for him, he barely broke a sweat while performing all the moves effortlessly. He had to learn to make it look difficult.
I don’t think so. It sounds like you’ll still have to pay to watch them on Max, but it’ll cost less than ordering them a la carte.
Eh, he’s only 49. That’s not as old as it used to be in the days when wrestlers were wrecking their bodies with steroids and cocaine.
I expect to see him do some stuff. Just wish WWE had let him to more.
AJ Styles was injured in his return match on SmackDown against Carmelo Hayes. He suffered a sprained left ankle and was eventually ruled unable to continue.
LA Knight had promised before the match that if Hayes won the match, he would make the case to Nick Aldis that Hayes should get a U.S. Title shot.
This is a loaded episode of SmackDown.
Michin and Chelsea Green had a great Dumpster Match that ended when Michin hit Chelsea with a Batista Bomb from the apron through a table into the dumpster, and then closed the lid on her.
Still to come: A triple threat ladder match for the WWE Tag Team Championship between The Bloodline, DIY, and The Street Profits.
The card for Bad Blood is short, but it looks like it oughta be a great show;
The Rock is rumored to be making an appearance, and in what I’m sure is a total coincidence is attending a high school football game tonight about an hour away from the venue. Time to start the build to Rock vs. Roman at Wrestlemania, I suppose.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a crowd not pop like they did when Hunter started talking about Crown Jewel. That arena was dead silent.
That segment just died.
I don’t know if it was just how the arena was wired for sound, but this didn’t seem like a great crowd. Not that they were bad, but they knew this was a C-level PLE and were reacting accordingly.
After the HIAC match, the rest of the card wasn’t that exciting to me, but at least they acknowledged some WCW history.
Is the Top Ten wrestling thread still around? I couldn’t find it.
That Crown Jewel championship belt is garush and ugly, like everything in Saudi Arabia
I was browsing on Facebook just now and I found an alternate camera angle of Jimmy Uso’s appearance in the main event. He comes out from underneath the ring (meaning he’d probably been “loaded” during the video package and was lying under the ring for the entire match up to that point) and just stands there for a minute or so before the main feed acknowledged his presence. Just an interesting little look at things the live audience sees that we don’t.
Somehow I had it muted. New technology is hard!
Didn’t they have other belts for Crown Jewel that nobody remembers today?
Braun Strowman was awarded a belt for winning the Greatest Royal Rumble. It was never seen again.
Raquel Rodriguez returned to help her former tag-team champion partner Liv Morgan retain the Women’s World Title against Rhea Ripley.
Apparently they called an audible. Raquel was supposed to help Liv win behind the referee’s back, but he clearly saw it and couldn’t justify not calling for the DQ.
Also, we had the returns of Jimmy Uso and The Rock.
Oh, fancy that. After the PPV, Kevin Owens attacked Cody Rhodes and turned heel. Again.
Why the hell would they do this in a social media video and not on television?
Saw Badd Blood this weekend and I enjoyed it well enough. Definitely a lesser PLE, (I’ll never get used to saying that over PPV), with some nice moments.
Punk and Drew had a fantastic bloody brawl in the cell to open. I love that blood is no longer considered taboo, as long enough they don’t overdo it. Drew sporting the “proverbial crimson mask” gets a big from me.
I laughed when Dom fell out of the cage and got tangled in the chain. Best midcard heel in awhile and he’s not afraid to show ass when it’s called for. Given his last name and pedigree he’ll have a long fruitful career for as long as he wants to do this.
Wasn’t surprised to learn Rhea/Liv had a botched ending and they had to call an audible. I remember thinking at the time the ending looked strange and something like that probably happened.
Don’t know if this was Roman’s first official match since WM, but it was still good to see him back and Jimmy Uso as well.
Is it gonna be on television tonight? Why wait for the next show? They can get it out their in real time.
