Any real camera stores where you are?

Picture Line opened about 1998ish RJKUGLY. I get the same feeling from them that you did with Wasatch Photographic.

Me too… I need to go shoot something!

Well, cool. If my thread gets out even just a few old photogs back into shooting, then it’s worth it.

I just wish I had someplace good to go. :frowning: The one semi-good store that is left here is rapidly becoming a digital center. Not that I have anything against digital. I have a couple. But, I still like conventional.

One of the neatest things about a real photo store is the used equipment. Unlike a pawn shop, where you take your chances, the used stuff at a photo store is almost always in good shape. My store had strict rules about accepting trades. At one place I used to shop in Denver, they had more used and collectable than new equipment. Camera companies have made some elegant stuff over the years to surmount certain problems that are now done with advanced electronics. Call me a fuddy duddy, I liked the older ways. It’s kind of like it made me proud to use a machine whose designers had figured it all out.

But, that may be a whole different thread for us. A little bit later, though. I have to find some links to what I’m talking about.

And another plus to a good camera store is getting replacements for old equipment. My sis and I went to one in Vancouver, Wa. I think it was called Kent’s Camera Supply… I can drive there but can’t remember the name. :smack:
Anyway, I had my Mom’s old box Brownie camera from the mid-60s I believe. The problem was that thee was no pickup reel in it to thread the 120 film onto and the new plastic reels are about ONE freakin millimeter TOO WIDE! they fit in the loading side with no problem but the take up end is just too small. So I was showing this to the guy in the store and he said " Oh, I have a couple of them in the back. Let me get you one." HURRAY! And even better he didn’t charge me for it! Well, Nan did spend some 300 in there that day:D
You can bet I’ll guard that reel with my life!
