Any recommendations for online art/illustration tutorials and other info?

Lately I’ve been trying to learn how to draw and paint. I’m dirt poor, so I am mostly limited to what books are available in the local library system. I figure that since I spend some time on the computer also, it might also be a good idea to ask if you folks know of any effective art tutorials around about the internet.

So far I have been dabbling in colored pencils, markers, and acrylic paints. I also have Photoshop Elements 2.0, as I understand that it can be useful for drawing and coloring illustrations. Any links to relevant information would be hugely appreciated. I’m keen to learn how to create fantasy/SF-style illustrations.

Ooh, maybe web comic advice or guidelines too? If such a thing exists.

I have attention span problems.

There are articles and discussion galore at the board. There are forums for acrylic and colored pencil. Markers, I guess, would be under Illustration. You can ask for specific advice, pointers to online tutorials, and suggested books which you may find at your library. You can get intelligent and constructive criticism for your work. Many of the articles contain tutorials. Don’t know anything about webcomics, sorry. There is a forum for Digital Art, though.

That does seem highly promising SparrowHawk! Thank you.
