Any Shows "take place" in your hometown?

As Scott said, Homocide and The Wire are set here, and filmed here.

Roc might have taken place in Baltimore. Roc (Charles Dutton) is from Baltimore.

More and more movies are being filmed here, and set here. Recently. . Ladder 49, Sum of All Fears.

Baltimore also played a big role in Enemy of the State, Sleepless in Seattle, As Good As It Gets, and most John Waters movies, and Barry Levinson movies.

The short-lived M.Y.O.B., about a teenager looking for her birth mother, was set in Akron. IMDB says it lasted four episodes.

You sound like a water taxi Captain. :stuck_out_tongue: “If you look to your right, you will see the Fells Point pier where…etc.”

There was a show on Nickelodeon that took place in Charlotte, N.C. I don’t remember the name of it, but it was a sitcom about a black family.

The movie Nell also took place in Charlotte, and portrayed the city very well.

You can’t walk around NYC without tripping over a Law and Order set. I swear, I expect them to be filming in my bathroom soon.

Law and Order: Special Shower Unit.

An uninspiring Australian drama series, McLeod’s Daughters, is filmed about ten minutes from my place. It’s a shame the show is so dreadful, really, or it’d be kind of neat knowing they were filming so close by.

Theodore Tugboat.

I can’t remember much of it, but was it My Brother and Me?
HERE is a picture of the writter in Charlotte.
P.S. Does Showmars really have the world’s best filet of flounder?

bodypoet and I live in the town that Jeff Foxworthy’s short-lived sitcom supposedly took place in. I couldn’t be bothered to watch it, but friends of mine have said it’s wildly, wildly wrong.

And up the road, in Indianapolis, you can find *One Day At A Time *, though what the hell the show had to do with Indy is still beyond me.

Ah, thank you, Scott! That’s it!

I don’t know. I’ve been eating their lamb gyro since I was a little kid. I will say, it’s the best gyro I’ve ever had, and I’ve been far-flung since my Showmar days. That place is heaven.

Early Edition was also filmed on location. As was Joan Cusack’s short lived sitcom.

Chicago Hope, Married With Children, and The Untouchables, however were only set here.

Well, I live in Dallas, but off the top of my head, I can’t think of any shows that “take place” in Dallas.

One more show set in Miami: a short-lived sitcom called Dave’s World, starring Harry Anderson as Dave Barry, the humorist and Miami Herald columnist. Ironically, even though it starred a hilarious lead actor and was based on the life and essays of one of the funniest writers of our time, it was a horribly formulaic “wisecracking wife/3 precocious kids/wacky neighbors/crazy boss” sitcom.

You forgot to mention: guitar hero/god. He preforms with Amy Tan, Roy Blount Jr., Matt Groening, and sometimes also-ran authors such as Bruce Springsteen, Stephen King, and Mitch Albom in The Rock Bottom Remainders

We had Houston Knights for a couple of years. Really, really lame cop show, but it was funny to watch as they would say something about where they were in town and the background showed that they were on the other side of town. Hilarity would ensue.

And Chuck Norris’ movie Sidekicks was filmed here in Houston. I was an extra in it.

Ah yes, I’ve heard about their band for years, but never actually heard them. To listen to Barry, he makes it seem like he’s a terrible guitarist and the band isn’t very good, but I’d still see them in concert.

Cheers
Two Guys and a Girl
Boston Common
Boston Public
Ally McBeal
The Practice

Don’t forget the short-lived series *Breaking Away * , which was based on the movie of the same name.

Part of an episode of A Man Called Hawk was filmed outside a convenience store that I’ve shopped in. I didn’t see the episode myself but my brother saw them filming - his computer store was across the street at the time.

Not a TV show but the parts The Hunter took place in the area where I pretty much grew up. The payphone scenes were filmed in town.

Here’s IMDb’s filming locations section.

Don’t forget Girls Club! Also, the Chris Isaak Show, Full House, plus Star Fleet Headquarters is on the other side of the Bridge.

Buffy could kinda count, since Sunnydale is kinda sorta Santa Cruz.
