I play in a 4.5 men’s league. Just wondering if there are any others players here.
Played 100 years ago at that level in a league, ok actually it was 1989.
Played [2nd] doubles only for the local Tennis Club, lost all but 1 match, which IIRC left us at 1-7, as there were four other clubs in the league and we played home-and away with each. Plenty of sandbaggers at that level–I was rated by USTA observers at the club.
Guys that I played with at the club in my section of the ladder thought I should have played in the 3.5 league
Liked the experience, but not the results.
Love to play, especially doubles. Follow the sport on TV extensively as well.
Only play casually, and it’s been almost a year at that. Would love to start up again.
I’m more like a 3.0 or 3.5, but I play singles every Sunday morning with a buddy of mine (who is about the same level), and I’ve been taking a (fairly casual) beginning tennis drill class weekly for two-plus years. It’s about the only form of exercise I’ve found that I actually enjoy, and despite having messed up my left knee when I first started playing, I play as often as I can. In fact, I’ll probably be buying a new racket this weekend.
Oddly enough, I don’t follow professional tennis anywhere near as much as I used to.
