Any U.S. elected officials with offspring in the military?

Please point me to a web site that lists which, if any, U.S. representatives or other elected officials have sons and/or daughters in the military.

Or, do you know that your representative has offspring in the military?

Thanks

I found this, which says that there are seven members of Congress with children in the military.

The list:

Sen. Tim Johnson, D-SD
Rep. John Kline, R-MN
Rep. Todd Akin, R-MO
Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-CA
Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, R-CO
Rep. Ed Schrock, R-VA
Rep. Joe Wilson, R-SC

Note that along with the 527 other members, Charles Rangel isn’t on that list, thus proving that talk is cheap.

Brooks Johnson is a staff sargeant in the 101st, and served in the latest conflict in Iraq through May of this year, although I’m having trouble finding the documentation. I recall the Senator mentioning last year that Brooks had already served in four combat zones. Iraq was his fifth.

So, Airman Doors, what’re they supposed to do…force their children to join?

I don’t really see the relevance of this. Always, in all places and at all times, those in power have ordered others into the sort of danger that they and their families are not exposed to. And many political and military leaders have ordered dangerous actions that did affect their children.

So what?

Here is a press release by Sen. Johnson, dated 9/7/03, where it mentions how many combat zones SSG Johnson has served in.

I’m having trouble reconciling this statement with what Rangel said:

Thanks, Airman Doors, for the cite. I was hoping that someone had already done the research for me, and happily, someone at least researched the House.

This is a general question, not a debate or a pit thread. Just hoping to find the facts.

Sorry, guys. I was just expressing my disdain for Rangel’s comments in an inappropriate place.

That was the House and the Senate.
