My wife and I have three kids, the oldest of whom will be three this year. Those of you who have kids will understand that it’s not unusual for my sleep to be interrupted in the wee hours of the morning. If whatever needs to be dealt with can be accomplished in such a time that I have an hour or more before I’d have gotten up anyway, I try to go back to sleep. I’ve noticed that, when this happens, I inevitably experience extremely vivid dreams during that last sleep cycle. My wife, however, does not.
I can’t believe I’m unique in this. Anybody else subject to incredibly vivid and memorable dreams after being awakened and going back to Nod?
A while ago I read up on lucid dreaming - vivid dreams that you know are dreams and can control. A lot of the benefits ascribed to it are total woo, but there is a pretty cool phenomenon some people experience behind it. It’s been found that the best way to have these memorable dreams is to have a short nap right after waking up from a long sleep. So yes, it’s a thing.
I have vivid dreams frequently , possibly because I’m chronically sleep deprived . I have found that i can re-enter the same dream after a brief interruption
Yes - I usually go back to bed for about an hour after my husband leaves for work (I work from home = no commute) and I tend to have more vivid and/or lucid dreams during that time period.
yes. I’m a hardcore snooze-button-slapper, and it’s very frequent that if the alarm wakes me up and I go right back to sleep, I’ll have some form of dream.
