Anybody Ever Had A Mole Removed? (help!)

I had a little mole in my crotchal area. It was almost impossible to see and monitor around, and a total pain in the ass (heh) to shave around. I went to the doc, he shot it with anesthetic, pinched it in a clamp, and razored it off. Wee little band-aid and off I went. I can’t even see a scar.

I had three taken off by a doc, but if they weren’t all on my back, I could’ve done 'em myself. Probably would’ve hurt too much to go through with, but the doc quite literally used a pair of scissors and snipped them off.

So maybe you could get this done with a bottle of whisky and a few ice cubes.*

*-Probably a bad idea, and the Chicago Reader most likely does not approve of people poking themselves with scissors or other pointy objects.

I’ve had two moles taken off, both from my arm and both benign.

I keep developing new, bright red moles which my doctor (not a dermatologist) says are nothing to worry about. They’re weird though.

I’ve had an assortment of moles, polyps, warts, and “lumps on the skin” taken off. I’ve never had any complications from the removals. One rather large mole removal area did develop a sort of a scar…the scar is a bit different in shade and texture from the surrounding skin, but you’d have to know what to look for to see it. Many of the lumps that I had removed were in awkward places, and tended to get rubbed by my clothing, which irritated them. Overall, I’m glad I had them removed.

I routinely snip off skin tags with a clean pair of cuticle scissors, which makes my doctor shudder a bit, but she says it’s probably OK for me to do so. I don’t think that I’d try to remove a mole with scissors, though.

I had a halo nevus removed from the center of my back a couple of years ago when I was a freshman. It was really easy - I didn’t feel anything, and since I can’t particularly see the center of my back, I pretty much missed the entire thing. Since I had to go back to college afterwards, the doctor used some crazy stitches that dissolved on their own or something, not sure on that whole thing. It worked out well though.

I have a mole at the top border of my pubic area that I’ve had since birth that I’m planning on getting removed this summer. It stayed the same for a long time, but over the past year or so it’s gotten a little bit irregular. It’s not particularly aesthetically appealing either, of course. It’ll probably be nothing, but better safe than sorry. Also doesn’t hurt that I’m still on my parents’ medical plan until I graduate next spring… so now is the time

I have to admit I have a certain fascination with the idea that they’re just cutting a small chunk of flesh out of me.

Have we ever had a mole removed?

My father in law is partial to fire crackers and a twenty two.

What?
