Anybody here ever actually been polled by 538, Gallup, Pew Research, etc?

I got called by Siena occasionally when I lived in Albany. Siena is Siena College, located in Albany, NY and considered a good pollster, if a bit smaller.

I was called a couple months ago for a poll on Trump. They didn’t tell me what company was conducting the poll or who the client was.

I’ve done dozens of political polls through Amazon Mturk both online and by phone call. The thing is I usually don’t know what platform or company is polling me. I just get a “requester” name and they are often not real names but project names.

Pretty much same as above. I sometimes wonder whether I should start taking them, at least if they come when I’ve got time; but I really have no way of telling who’s on the other end of the phone, and there’s pretty limited information I’d be willing to give them.

In addition, my response to a lot of questions doesn’t fit into any of the boxes that polls usually want to check; so I wind up arguing with the poll that no, I can’t answer that question in that form, do they want to hear the form I will address that issue in? No, they generally do not.

Just ran across this on Twitter, someone reported they just got polled

Pew tried to survey me about a month ago; they left a message on my cellphone that they would call back but never did.

I am, however, a Disney survey magnet.

I’ve been polled at least twice over the landline; the most recent was from Quinnipiac, sometime during Dubya One. Pretty standard-sounding multiple-choice questions re: degrees of approval (or lack) of various contemporaneous policies and personages, mostly on a five-value scale; strong approve, somewhat approve, meh, and so on.

Didn’t seem to do a lick of good.
