There is a memo widget and an alarm clock widget stuck on the phone and I can’t get them off. When I go to the widget menu, it doesn’t show them. But they are stuck on the home screen. Nothing in display settings and I could not find anything despite extensive searching on the LG site and on the internet.
I don’t know how to remove them, but you might be able to circumvent it by using a different launcher and making your own homescreen. I just started using Nova Launcher (free download) and it seems to have a lot of flexibility regarding customization, plus I like it a lot more than the standard screen. There are probably a million more launchers available, too. I don’t have any perma-widgets to experiment with, though.
Okay, after playing around with the Nova Launcher settings, yes, you can devise all your own screens and designate any one you want as the main homescreen. It seems to be faster than the launcher that came with the phone, too.
You can’t just long-press on the widget and fling it off the screen? That’s stock Android behaviour, though I have no clue what LG might have done.
I’ve got an Extravert, and I had an alarm clock widget on the screen. To get rid of it, I pressed and held for a moment, and at the side of the screen, a garbage can appears. Drag the widget to the garbage and that should get rid of it.
It actually took me longer to figure out how to get it back.
No trash can shows up even when you click and hold. It’s super annoying! Now it takes up half the screen.
Thanks for trying, guys.
Download the Nova Launcher app and you can make your own home screen without the unwanted widgets.
My guess would be to really start to appreciate and rely on them - that would likely be enough to assure that they will disappear during the next update!
Although, more likely, based on my personal experience it is most likely the functionality would disappear, but the icons would remain, clogging up your screen.
I got nothing here!
Is that even an Android phone? I googled about looking for info on what version of Android it was and can’t find anything, making me think it might be some proprietary OS?
