anybody know the name of this song?

i dont even know who does this song, and have only heard it in one place: in the movie ‘angus’ (came out a few years ago, about a fat kid and his quest for acceptance (or something like that), it had kathy bates playing the kid’s mother, and the girl and (i think) george c. scott playing his grandfather).

they play this song near the end of the movie, when angus’s grandfather has died and they just show a bunch of scenes beneath a soundtrack instead of dialogue.

the lyrics talk about a river.

this is an excellent, excellent song, but it is NOT on the soundtrack, and my search of ‘angus’ websites has turned up nothing.

does anybody know what i am talking about?

Did you look at IMDb.com?

A google search reveals

This site has the entire soundtrack listed and for sale

The OP said the song in question wasn’t on the soundtrack album.

But there’s a song listed at IMDb.com that I initially thought had a pretty promising title that doesn’t seem to be on the soundtrack:

“Washing Of the Water”
Performed by Peter Gabriel
Written by Peter Gabriel
§ Real World Music Ltd.
Peter Gabriel appears courtesy of Geffen Records

Although when I saw it I figured it must not be the one; surely they’d include the Peter Gabriel number on the soundtrack album. Mayber there were rights issues.

yay!!

thank you lissener!

that IMDb place is pretty schwanky! AND it is the right song! wow, i have been looking for that song ever since i saw the movie - who knew all i had to do was ask the dope message board? : )

That PG song is on Us, btw. It’s his last studio album, and quite excellent.

Now, where’s that next one, PG…? (Ovo doesn’t count.)
